I wouldn't go to the Police if you want to live in peace. For all you know it could be a big grow being controlled by some real nasty characters and you could end up being shot or something. Crims don't like grasses (sorry for the pun !). Either that or the person could have MS or something that weed helps control pain etc.Best to buy some draft excluder from B&Q and seal your self, Only cost a few pounds.

Terrible stuff - I'd be very wary of confronting a regular user..Why ? what are they going to do, hit you with their mars bars. Skunk is no more dangerous than Hash (well actually less dangerous for your lungs), probably a bit worse than old school weed. All the scare stories you read in the papers are BS. Even the government advisors said the same (until they sacked them because they didn't like their opinion). Just legalise it, tax it and save the money spent policing it to combat hard drugs which really do ruin lives.

I would invest in a good air purifier or two and try those.
  • I think the police would be able to knock on the neighbours door and claim they'd smelt the cannabis themselves, especially if it goes all the way to the ground floor from the 3rd. They don't need to get you involved at all.

Hi OP, I take it you're talking about the awful genetically engineered "skunk" marijuana rather than old-fashioned cannabis? Terrible stuff - I'd be very wary of confronting a regular user..

One thing that might help, though not designed for this, is a de-humidifier - placed behind your door where the worst of the stink comes through.

I don't know the science behind it, but as the de-humidifier sucks air in and extracts the moisture, it also removes even very strong smells. Set on a timer; 15 minutes on 15 minutes off [so as not to burn out the motor] that should make a considerable improvement.

Hope this helps, and Good Luck!

Thank you! this seems a good idea, together with the self adesive draught stopper etc the situation should improve... I'll keep you posted :)

If it's 24/7 then you have to assume there's either someone smoking it in shifts or something else is happening there other than someone living quietly.

I would think that if it is really as bad as you claim (ie travelling through your neighbours door, through a communal area and in to your flat), then there must be a problem with the doors, as I have lived in flatshares with some very heavy weed smokes and never experienced anything like what you have described.

Therefore go with the draught excluder ideas.

Failing any response from your management committee or landlady - Id contact environmental health. Clearly it isnt healthy to have smoke entering your flat particularly when you may have health problems concerning smoke of any kind? And sealing the door against the smoke wont help much surely, you have windows for it to seep through and I guess he must have his windows open so the smoke could be drawn in through yours.
