I suggest you see out the 12 months and then move to an isolated island where you are the only inhabitant.
Have you been there ? How would you know ?
I think the OP has asked for advice on dealing with it rather than being told 'it can't be that bad'.Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.0 -

Really? There is talk of the police in several posts, suggestions that there is a plantation in the flat, talk of the OP "smoking" enough to fail drugs tests.............jeez, all way over the top.
Live and let live or move to the middle of nowhere.0 -

The OP is not the one breaking the law, why should she move to the middle of nowhere....that's a little melodramatic!0 -
Talk of the police - strategy to address the problemDannyboyMidlands wrote: »Really? There is talk of the police in several posts, suggestions that there is a plantation in the flat, talk of the OP "smoking" enough to fail drugs tests.............jeez, all way over the top.
Live and let live or move to the middle of nowhere.
Suggestion of a plantation - valid speculation
Possibility of failing a drugs test - fair comment unless demonstrably untrue
As for live and let live, if the smell stays outside the OP's flat, I would agree. But when it comes into the flat, this is someone inflicting their life choices on someone else. That is way outside live and let live.
You seem to have an agenda for tolerance of cannabis. I have not a lot of problem with that - I think that the drugs laws are counter productive. But I do have a problem with the idea that someone should have to put up with cannabis - or tobacco - smoke in their own home when they don't enjoy it, purely to allow someone else to indulge their cravings.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. again, the aim of my post is to ask advice about what I can do to get my landlady to help out with the situation. No moral judgement etc.
Any advice more to the point are greatly appreciated , thank you0 -
Your landlady has little reponsibility to help you here unfortunately.
I too would go to the police. By you asking nicely he blew his chance to live and let live.
Who owns the flat he occupies? That is also relevant.0 -

He is a tenant and has a private landlord; by contacting the building management company I was hoping they got in touch with the landlord as well so that he would be informed and could have a word with his tenant. I don't know if this has actually happened but it hasn't changed the situation so far...0 -

I have an "agenda" for tolerance in general be it cannabis, tobacco, a little music, running a car and belching who knows what into the atmosphere..........................
If we live in close proximity we have to accept this kind of stuff. Ridiculous speculation and scare stories are not helpfull to anybody.
Hopefully the police have more important matters to investigate.0 -
I understand your frustration, but if it is bothering you that much why dont you seal the door yourself? I can't imagine it would be very expensive, I don't think you LL has a legal obligation to do it for you.0
