Good news - well kind of. In my Ocado shop (delivered Sunday and full of special offers - my sis had a 25% off code and delivery on a Sunday was only 99p) one of my joints of beef had a great big hole in the plastic front!!! So I emailed them and they have refunded the cost (£6 and pennies) so my total has gone down overnight!

What are peoples views on using the beef? I guess it wasn't like that when it was picked and packed (must have happened in the van) and the bag it was in wasn't torn.... should I chuck it???

I would give it a good wash under cold running water - then cook!

I would use it. Just run it under the cold tap, dry it with paper and cook it hot for the first 40 minutes to kill anything remaining then lower the heat for remaining cooking time. :)....Great minds think alike

Good grief pipersky NOOooo!!!!! :naughty: As the very wise FlorenceEm has said, give it a very good wash with cold water and cook it as soon as you can. As you say, it probably happened in the van and personally I wouldn't worry about it at all. It may even taste better for having a bit of air rather than constrained by plastic! ;) And it will definitely taste better for being free.

    Take care,
    Spigs

Will be setting my budget at £400 again for this month.

Was going to reduce it but as we will be doing Costco again this month I decided not to.

    Good luck everyone!
