Need to 'bump' it up slightly this month as we have a butchers shop - just done today but I am declaring it in the February budget.

    So it will be £250.00

Todays spend at the butchers came in at £108.98. Which will leave us with £147.02 for the rest of the month which I think is do-able
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D
  • My usual £65for February please. Will really knuckle down on Wednesday. Back to my old system of withdrawing the £65 and keeping it isolated in a special purse.

(As many of you may know, January was a disaster in more ways than one - DH died of bronchopneumonia on 7th Jan. Am getting back to normal thanks to lots of wonderful support from family and from friends, both face to face and virtual - especially on OS - thanks to all.)
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

    Hello Everyone

I've still got a few bits and pieces to get from my January spend, so won't declare until tomorrow, but expect to have a surplus of around £25 which I will add to my 2nd Purse so that I can buy more stock

I've really enjoyed following all the posts in January, they've helped to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Put me down for £230 for February please Zippychick, a little less than this month, there are only four weekends, and so hopefully there will be a bit left over which can be used to boost my 2nd purse again.

Good luck to everyone, huge hugs to you Winchelsea
  • First proper month for me on this!

Had a few spends over the weekend, had to have a major freezer/cupboard restock as had been using up stock due to lack of funds post-Christmas!

Fridge and freezer now bursting, shouldn't need to shop again until weekend at least.

Visited a local farm shop and was really impressed with the quality of food and the prices. Also had a lucky find in Icicle land and picked up yellow stickered extra large chicken for £2.50, and a pack of 2 smaller ones for £2.50 also, very pleased with those as I usually get to the supermarket at the wrong time and only see reduced things with the odd 50p/70p off :T.
Grocery challenge Feb £95.49/£300 (2 adults, 2 children)
    Barclaycard £10,346.42
Overdraft expected to be £5,865.01 end Jan.
:embarasse :embarasse Big leap for me to put those in black and white, hoping MSE will help me get on track.

  • Hello, I'm new to this and posted my target on the January thread but I'll post it here too and hope that doesn't cause confusion! £120 please.

A bit of background seems polite - I live with my boyfriend and our food spending has gone a bit haywire over the past year or so. I had to increase our budget to £150 a month and then we started spending even more than that so it's time to take control of it again.

My food budget pot in my spreadsheet is currently in debt of about £70 I think, so while I'm keeping the budget the same, my actual target is £120 so that we can pay ourselves back £30 a month.

Once that's done I was hoping to reduce the official food budget and increase our mortgage overpayments, but it turns out I've been underbudgeting for petrol what with all the massive price rises so the money we save on food will have to go towards that! Quite disappointed but all the more incentive to save to pay back both our food debt and our petrol debt!

I have spent £153/£250 for Feb, as my month runs from 20th to 19th. However, the cupboards and freezer are well stocked and we should only need top ups for dairy and fresh fruit and veg.
I love how this thread keeps me focused on not shopping for the sake of it, thanks all

there was another who couldn't either but don't know how to quote two posts...

on the advanced reply section there is a box that says sizes.... it has a little drop down box in it, and number 7 is this big, and i think 2 is standard....

so i haven't done this is ages, but need to start saving.

i have masses in the cupboards and freezer and would like to be put down for
£100 in Feb please... (and 15 NSD) i might not need that but it will include everything that i eat or drink...
