Thanks for the shiny new thread :D

Can you put me down for £80 for February please. I usually set myself a budget of £100 but there is so much stuff that needs eating up it's bordering on stupid

I've been shopping again! Doh! £3.86 in Aldi on super 6 veggies and a few more. Then another 67p in Asda on whoopsied mushrooms. I am only on my 4th day of Feb and I a quarter of the way through my budget! However, I did stock up on meat yesterday, and the veggies should keep us going for bit so that should be it for this week. She says.......:p
  • Thanks to all involved for the shiny new thread. :T

First spend of Feb's budget over the weekend at M&S, £25.38 after meal deal and voucher. Taking off the full cost of a bottle of wine though, as it's a gift. So going to add £18.39 as my first spend, plus £2.29 at Mr T on some whoopsied mince.

Every week I meal plan and have enough for one week's worth of meals. Yet come the following week, I still have a week's worth of meals in there even though I've only added one or two whoopsied things throughout the week. I know it's me stretching things and putting back leftovers, but I still like to think my freezer is magic. ;)

So having said that, this week's menu is...

Sunday: Roast chicken (whoopsied 2kg bird, loads leftover)
Monday: Gammon (leftover) and potato gratin (meal deal)
Tuesday: Chicken curry (using last week's leftover chicken)
    Wednesday: Chorizo pasta
Thursday: Chilli con carne (whoopsied mince and sauce - probably have leftovers)
Friday: Southern fried chicken (leftover from a big pack on offer)
Saturday: All day breakfast (promised DH - will need to get bacon for this though)

    Hello All,

would like to join in the challenge for Feb please. At the mo I will go for £150 for feb please, but may change this once i look at how much i spent in Jan - kept receipts to work out food budget.

will now take inventory of cupboards, fridge & freezer before meal planning & shopping

  • Thanks as always to the lovely folk that administer this thread and for all the contributors to the GC that make this such a great, supportive place to be.

helen jelly please can you put me down for £140 for February again please. I came a whopping 10 whole .....pennies under budget for January (declaring 1 day early, but won't be shopping tomorrow, so safe enough to do so). Therefore, I think my budget was about right - which I thought it was, but I definitely was spending more than that (and ignoring it) before joining this challenge. The focus has helped me and as the underspend was on the food 'component' of my budget (£60), I'm pretty chuffed.
