  • Good morning everyone,

Well my month runs from 28th Jan-27th Feb so im now onto my 2nd shop of the month. Aiming to do 4 shops on average of £50 each and then next month Il challange myself to 2 big shops per month. Im fed up looking at supermarkets lol.

Today the plan is to try and stay under £50. Gotta buy a flask with that money as well. Gona give OH soup for the week and also noodles for lunch. I think hes fed up with sandwiches etc plus the pasta he buys is like £1.40 a tub. Hes a fussy eater so only buys certain things.

Anyway wish me luck as Im visiting 3 different super markets today. Saving money defo takes alot of planning. I have 3 different lists set up so here goes....

Il update later tonight when ive been to all 3.

    :)

  • Argh, best laid plans of mice and all that! Popped to Mr T to look for socks for Mr Kitchenbunny and came back with some milk, red peppers and an enchilada kit! Spent £6.08 today, so will add that to my sig now. Luckily though, he has said he'll take me into work tomorrow to avoid the steep hill I'd have to drive back up (he'll drop me at the top of the road) and that means tomorrow is likely to be an NSD instead of today - hurray!!

    KB xx

    Hi everyone,

Hope you are all managing to stay safe and warm.

DD - so sorry for your loss. We lost DH's grandma on Thursday - 97 years old, and still putting the world to rights!

My totals so far look shocking. Will need to go to MrT tomorrow for the week's food. I do have some meat in the freezer tho' so hoping for a £50 or less total, which would be good.

DS1 is 13 today and is out shovelling snow off the road. Bless him! Rellies were meant to come and see us today, but have told them to stay put.

  • First week's spends to report: £7.00 in Sainsbugs on Monday on half price rump steak and a free range chicken, Thurs £4.15 on milk and marked down salami. We did our main shopping yesterday, £7.90 on fruit and veg, £2.49 on cheese both at the market then £10.59 at B & M, for cereal (they've got a Jordan's one at £1.39 so had two of those and some other organic one for 99p plus some Napolina sauces for 79p each, olives for 69p and 15 finish tabs for 99p. It also included some garlic for my neighbour for her allotment - but we'll get some back when its grown ;)) Then £13.38 at Sainsbugs which included more cheap salami and steak. So £45.51 in total. Still under my £50 target for the week :T
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

OMG - went to page 1 one of this thread to get the weetabix cake recipe and was side tracked by the weetabix brownies. I have had an open packet of weetabix in the back of the cupboard with 7 left (must have been from rellies staying since I dont eat them). Well - have just taken the brownies out of the oven and, if they taste as good as they smell, they will be a defo hit - mmmmmm. May have to use this as excuse to buy in more weetabix me thinks!!

Huge thanks to Jaxxy00 for donating the recipe.

    Hi all

Not much to report as haven't had grocery spends since the Week 1 shop - didn't get my honey on Friday as have changed round meal plan days a little. Will buy tomorrow (so today can be NSD) - the honeyed carrot soup will be for lunches Tue - Fri. Hope it's nice, it's a new recipe I've found.

Thanks for the tips about the honey, I read them with glee, got home, and discovered I'd chucked the honey in the morning and my dad had already ot rid of the rubbish. So do have to buy some. Luckily have Mr T by work and needed to go in anyway to pick a dress up my mum has ordered, on my way home from work tomorrow. Will get milk from Week 2 budget also.

Tea tonight (and next 3 nights) will be balsamic roasted vegetables with wholewheat cous cous. New recipe, slightly different to how I would normally make this kind of thing, so am quite excited about this one! Looking forward to teatime!

Had a lovely brunch today of beans on toast, been ages since I've had that, and I added my special ingredient to the beans - Chipotle Tabasco (soooooooo good!), makes a world of difference. No butter on the bread, so was healthy too!

Lunch tomorrow is leftover minestrone soup from last week.

Take care all, how exciting to hear about all the snow! It settled here last night but melted overnight except for the puddley bits which are now ice rinks... ho hum! Have a lovely day all!
