Spend of £3 in Mr S today on some Carte Noire. Ran out of coffee this morning and although 2 jars of coffee are being delivered by Mr W on Sunday I can't function without a coffee in the morning so needed some!
I don't normally get this - I usually get the Cap Colombie Nescafe or Kenco Colombian coffee but that was £4.59 a jar in my little Mr S! I like nice coffee but limit myself to £3 a jar and get them on offers.
On that note - does anyone know if Lidl or Aldi have any nice instant Colombian blend coffees which are cheaper than £3 a jar? Contemplating a visit to one of them if there are to try them out.Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

Thanks for that! Much appreciated! If they do then it will at least be worth getting one jar to give it a go...Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300

I don't mind having a number
I've got a huge batch of spag bol simmering in my cauldron on the stove at the moment, which makes me feel really good.
However, my first upset of February. I had about a third of a tub of houmous left, and it's furry, so have had to throw it away. Likewise with about half a pot of tzatziki - I had frozen in and no-one wanted it because it was so runny and I couldn't get it to emulsify
However, have got some dried chickpeas, so will make some houmous in more manageable portions for us. Is tzatziki just plain yogurt, mint and cuc? I could probably do the same.
Loving this thread - thank you all for organising it. :T

The end of January all went a bit pearshaped with the tax man asking for more than I expected him to:o so on to month two with renewed vigour.....
I did a freezer inventory last night (can you believe 7 pots of HM Broccoli soup and 5 gammon roasts )
BiL made an observation that made me think.... "if you dont use up whats in the freezer so you have space for the bargains then its false economy because all you are doing is paying to store things!" I hadnt thought of it that way before.... at least he cant object when he has broccoli soup every day for a month!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I thought I might have a go at using some of the soup as a pasta bake base (DS is a pastaholic!)
Used the last of Januarys budget (and a little of Februarys) at the cash and carry yesterday so have enough dog food til March at least.
Bread maker at last producing something thats edible so DH doesnt have to make comments about bricks for the new house extension! Tescos have had chipati flour on special at £3 for 10 kg :j:jso am going to experiment and see if its any good in the BM. Any tips?
Good luck to everyone with your shiny new budgets! Keep up the good work.:T:T:T
