Can I join in for February please? Freezer needs defrosting so have done menu plan for most of Feb so can I have £200 as my aim please.
Thanks guy, you inspire me, and finally this month I will do it.0 -
Hello everyone,
I've been lurking for a while, and thought it about time I put all your good tips into action.
Please can I join in with the challenge this month?
There are 2 adults (and an overflowing freezer!) in our house, so I am going to try and be focussed and go for a £120 grocery spend this month.
Thanks!Mortgage debt : -£17,000
2019 overpayments : £23,0000 -
Skimmed through the first 5 pages but lunchbreak is over now so I'll catch up on the rest later...
Please put me down for £200 again for Feb. Managed to bring Jan in at £198.69 but it did entail OH complaining for the last 4 days because we were out of biscuits. I could have spent that last £1.31 on a couple of packets of a$da smartprice biccies for him but I didn't want to make the special trip - even though petrol spend was about half of what I'd budgeted! I usually drink dilute blackcurrent cordial and that ran out before the biscuits. I figured if I had to drink water for a week, he could survive without biscuits for half that time!
Promised he could have some on 1 Feb so better go shopping this evening. I want to try to get to the market for veg at weekend and am toying with either butcher or farm shop for meat which is also a weekend trip so need to resist the urge to do a "big shop" for meat and veg tonight. Enough for 2 nights' dinners and a stock up of the store cupboards/milk only.
Good luck to everyone for the new challenge...0 -
hi...popped to the coop today and got a few bargains...£10 spent dont think i will need to buy anything before the weekend....might have snow by then
we have a sc spag bol cooking as i speak which we will have for tea...there might be some left for tea tomorrow as well
have a nice day tessonwards and upwards0 -
On the school run I stopped at the butchers and bought 1lb of their lovely pork sausages (dinner for OH and 3 daughters) and 2 small pieces of lambs liver for me , all to have with onion gravy, peas and mash ...yum. So that's £3.26 to add to my total.
Have a lovely afternoon and keep warm

Hello everyone
Please may I join your challenge?
We are two adults and a teenager. We are in debt and I am suffering from severe depression, and I've let a lot of things slide.
I menu plan, but then sometimes am too exhausted or unmotivated to cook, so some food gets wasted. Usually bits of salad stuff, carrots, sometimes apples, oranges or bananas that have hung around too long, and occasionally meat that has passed its use by date. I am being treated with brain altering drugs and cognitive behaviour therapy, and although I am 'crashing and burning' a lot at the moment, my periods of stability seem to be increasing, and I have started to address all sorts of areas that have been neglected.
My shopping budget at the moment is £300, excluding pet food, toiletries, cleaning products and alcohol. I will stick with that for February. I will aim to stick to my meal plan, not to beat myself up if I don't, but 'save' the food that should have been used by freezing etc. We are all trying to eat more healthily, which should help with the impulse buys on junk food that are the big waste for us, so food snacks and take aways will be included in the above figure.
Looking forward to this
rumbly x
Rumbly, just recovering from severe PND and know how difficult things can be. Glad to hear your periods of stability are increasing...stick at it. You WILL get better!0 -
January was very tight! But I made it, by pennies...
Feb budget is much higher at £350 as I need to stock up for DH. Spent £70 today but had to restock my medicine cabinet and got toothpastes, mouthwash and DHs favourite body washes that were on offer. It's a very high amount for a week, but I'm hoping next weeks won't be so high (although I will need some meat, and DH won't eat mince so that's my favourite cheap meals out of the window!)NSDs 7/20
