    Good morning everyone!

The kids are back to school today. I really enjoyed our half term, so am a bit sad to get back to normal, but another part of me really enjoys the routine!

    Have a great day everyone!

Can you put me down for £80 for the rest of feb please this is for me hubby and 2 little sprozza's, our freezer is pretty full so I think we should be able to stick to this budget. Great thread by the way loads of good info on how to stick to budget.

I've lost track a bit this month - kids were away last week so didn't need to shop as OH and I ate from the freezer, however we have still managed to spend £199 out of £250. However I did spend £50 filling the freezer with waitrose meat when I got a good voucher deal. Also took dd to aldi and ended up spending more than usual under her influence -2 pizzas for a quick lunch, some choc brioche, tights fro her majesty all totally unnneccessary! Shouldn't need to go again ex bread, milk and some fruit at the weekend. As usual the cupboards and freezer are fuller than at the start of the month!

Pancake day on Tuesday :D (I love pancakes:o).

I did treat myself to some blueberries at Mr T today ..... when DM and I were out yesterday, there was a crepe place at Dob*bie's - I was very tempted by a blueberry & ice cream crepe but it was £5.95:eek: so I managed to resist - with the promise I'd make myself some on pancake day:D

I have no idea what I'll do with the rest of them:eek: - does anyone know if they freeze? (Then I could have it again .... and again)
£5.95  Blueberries will freeze ok - most things do! However they're not gonna defrost and be exactly what they're like 'raw' - IYKWIM. They'll be fine if you want to make a compote or smoothie or something though.

My favourite way with the crepe-y style pancakes is crepes suzette. It's a bit more involved than lemon juice and sugar but it's worth it

We'll have scotch pancakes with bananas and syrup for breakfast tomorrow and then the crepe-style ones for pudding :D

Adding £3.60 for cakes for my mum (HM doesn't cut it, apaprently..) and a carton of milk.
  • Thanks ever so much Spiggle for suggesting the dinner party might be funded from the entertainment budget.... :TI was feeling so disheartened that I'd bust the GC budget. I've done some sums and altogether I reckon I spent £72 including wine (although we drank a couple of bottles from the rack too!) It will take all this months entertainment budget and some of next but will even out over the year I think

    The menu was:

Arrival drinks - Gin Fizz (Hairy bikers recipe)
nibbles - HM bread bruschetta with home made hummus and Chicken liver pate with HM roast red pepper chutney, olives and pickled mini peppers.

mussels rockerfella with buttered samphire (and a bottle of semillon))

trio of tartlets (Goats cheese and red onion marmalade puffs, cherry tomato and feta filo tarts and pear, dolcelatte and walnut shortcrust tart. (bottle of rioja) served with HM remoulade, HM rocket parmesan and balsamic salad, HM potato salad and HM spiced apple red cabbage slaw.

HM Gorgonzola tortelini on a puddle of pea soup (bottle of tarapaca)

Portobello mushrooms stuffed with wm breadcrumbs, edam, pine nuts and parsley (bound with egg) (Bottle of merlot)

HM lemon syllabub with HM chocolate chip shortbread (with a sweet white wine)

Cheeseboard (10 varieties was the most expensive thing coming in at £34.25!) and a whole bottle of port :D

Fresh coffee served with HM double chocolate slice

and 2 further litres of merlot:o:o:o

Washing up was a marathon and I finally crawled into bed at 0415 mumbling something like " never again! next time we have chip butties!":rotfl::rotfl:

    Will amend my signature

Thanks ever so much. Early night tonight! (and jacket potato for tea!)

  • Well started off with all good intentions, however well and truly fell of budget wagon this month, due to decorating and having quick meals, desperate to start again in March, after next salary in account, how much do people generally spend on weekly grocery shop including toileteries and any treats for Kid and self - only three in our house DD/OH and me. All advise and suggestions well and truly accepted, as desperate to get motivated again as feel I've failed this month, and thinking should I try again or not!!!

    Hi all

Haven't been posting much as have been out quite a lot and so still living off my Mock Goose! Last one tonight though, with broccoli and green beans, yum!

Lunch is Sweet Pepper and Tomato Soup (used up all the wrinkly peppers my mum donated!), made 4 servings, started yesterday so will last till Wed lunch.

Week 4 spend today of £1.78 on 2x 2pt milk. That is actually my whole Week 4 shop unless I get any whoopsies later in the week. Shouldn't even look though, because I have no room to put them and no need to buy them! :rotfl:
