Hi all, not even started feb yet and have spent £81.65  mostly stocking up on bargains to use later on on the month. Will prob need more milk, fruit and eggs at the weekend but that'll be it for the week.
Thank you everyone for the recipes at the start of this thread :T. I made the wheetabix fruit loaf yesterday(dd suddenly gone off wheetabix after I bought a big box). Big thumbs up from all the family. Realised I put half a bag of frozen raspberries in the fridge rather than freezer at the weekend so have cooked them up with some sad looking apples for kids pudding tonight ;).
Other ideas I have tried are using half a tablet in dishwasher (works for me) and adding lentils to the bolognaise sauce. Not even fussy ds noticed that one and I have about a month's worth of bolognaise pots in the freezer!:j

  • Hi everyone! Well, we have just done our first shop of the month and have spent £50 - not too shabby! Also got a couple of things from 2nd purse, but having worked it out when we got back, we're only going to be making £3 from it when we 'buy them back'... hmmm. I'm not too impressed with that - I think we got all excited at the thought and went for it when actually, the deals weren't that great? I'm not sure! Will persevere and see how we go.

Shopping today was actually paid for with vouchers, which DP earns through incentives at work, so we have both just split the shop cost and put what we would have spent if not for the vouchers into our savings accounts. Yay! This will be useful as I have my car tax coming up...

Loving the tip for lentils in bolognese! Will definitely be doing that once we use up our frozen stockpile!!!

Can i join please! Need to start recording our spending on groceries again

I think we are saving a bit of money at the mo by making hm soup for lunches!

Can i be put down for £220 for a family of 4 please

We have already spend £97 for feb  However it isn't too bad as we have a freezer ready to burst - including lots of joins of meat. I think we have 3 beef joints and 3 pork joints in there! Plus other bits and bobs! Will be on the lookout for more cheap meals. At the mo we are trying to have one hm soup night with hm rolls and then one other cheap night of either Jackets, egg on toast or Quorn burgers with hm wedges.

Please can you put me down for £300 for February please. I am reducing my budget by £50 because it is such a short month and it will hopefully give me a few spends for Half Term Week.

I have already had a big shop at Mr L so cupboards refilled. Menu plan done for the week so feeling quite organised. Famous last words!

    Best of luck everyone:)

Good morning everyone :) Yessterday was a NSD and today (hopefully!!) all I need to get at tesc@ are teabags and bread. Was going to try the value teabags and hope no-one notices but I don't know if I'm maybe pushing my luck here:D

I buy the value teabags and think they are OK but weaker than more expensive brands. My OH doesn't like them so he drinks Tetl*y

If the person drinking them is a 'dunk and remove' weak tea drinker, then you should be fine. But if they like a strong brew (like me) you'll be lucky to get away with it even if you use 3 at a time......

I tried them once, and never again. But the 27p for 80 ones from L!dl are absolutely fine :)
