    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
hi there, well after a miserable fail for jan, am going for £200 again for feb, should be able to do it this month as i can't see any surprises on the horizon and i have waaaaaay too much food in my cupboards and freezer to warrent any big shops at mr t's, also i am finding it quite a lesson trying to stick to a budget ( even if i fail!) and i know i can't be alone in having a feeling of accomplishment when i find a great offer:D

right, lots of cooking to do as in work for the next 2 days and if i don't have dinner ready now who know what i will have if its not done now ( takeaway:()

here's to a good feb everyone and thanks to those of you who go to so much trouble to organise this thread:T

  • Can I please go for £150 feb please? I started Jan and didn't make it past a week before I lost count! So Im really going for it this month as in March me and oh are combining our finances and debts to get them paid off- so I have set a strict budget and Feb is our trial month so to speak. The budget is for me, oh and 6mo ds, who is on homemade food rather than baby jars and powders.

  • Hi All

Please can I be put down for £150 for Feb please, I was underbudget in January so as Feb is a shorter month and i've been shopping today (included in Jans budget) for 1 week of Feb already I hope I can come in under again.

I've also done a stock take of meat/fish and meals in the freezer and counted 27 possible meals so i'm going to try to use up as much of that as I can and make it stretch as much as poss.

    Good luck everyone :D

  • Hello everyone

Please may I join your challenge?

We are two adults and a teenager. We are in debt and I am suffering from severe depression, and I've let a lot of things slide.

I menu plan, but then sometimes am too exhausted or unmotivated to cook, so some food gets wasted. Usually bits of salad stuff, carrots, sometimes apples, oranges or bananas that have hung around too long, and occasionally meat that has passed its use by date. I am being treated with brain altering drugs and cognitive behaviour therapy, and although I am 'crashing and burning' a lot at the moment, my periods of stability seem to be increasing, and I have started to address all sorts of areas that have been neglected.

My shopping budget at the moment is £300, excluding pet food, toiletries, cleaning products and alcohol. I will stick with that for February. I will aim to stick to my meal plan, not to beat myself up if I don't, but 'save' the food that should have been used by freezing etc. We are all trying to eat more healthily, which should help with the impulse buys on junk food that are the big waste for us, so food snacks and take aways will be included in the above figure.

    Looking forward to this :)

Good morning everyone :) Yessterday was a NSD and today (hopefully!!) all I need to get at tesc@ are teabags and bread. Was going to try the value teabags and hope no-one notices but I don't know if I'm maybe pushing my luck here:D I've made a weekly meal plan and have enough in the fridge/freezer for at least 7 days so fingers crossed. Last nights dinner was supposed to be sweet and sour chicken (tin of sauce I found in the cupboard) but when I checked the date on the tin it said BBE june 2010 so I was terrified to use it and had Thai green curry instead (another jar from the cupboard I didn't know was there) I've picked up a lot of tips from this thread which has given me the confidence to get on with it so thanks. Tonights dinner is going to be HM soup and HM bread followed by HM banana loaf and custard. DH has the dentist this afternoon for a filling  so the softer the food the betterX

Afternoon all have just declared jans spends and am up and ready for febs :D which was going to be a 5 week month for us but am shifting the dates around slightly and now will run from the 1st to the 28th (to try and fit in better with the GC). so for Feb £60 weekly please. could possibly manage on £50 but i like the idea of any extra going into the bulk buy purse :D. No dad this month(but he told me that his bank is available if needed bless him:D i never use it so thats maybe why he keeps telling me its there i imagine the offer would end if i started to depend on it:D) so feeding 3 adults (son is back home) 2 lo's 2 dogs (food sorted) 3 cats and 1 degu (we sadly lost the 2 mummies and babies). Have a trip planned to aldi today to spend the last of jans budget(£10) and will also start on Febs today so will update later today (sorry not sure why the fonts keep changing). Many thanks to the ladies who keep the challange going x

    Hi All

My month doesn't start until tomorrow but I've given my share of the Mr W delivery cost which arrives on Sunday 5th Feb of £35 to my flatmate already. It was supposed to be £40 each but he got more food than me, so we calculated I owed £5 less. Have updated signature. :)

    Hi all

I'm new to this challenge, so if I do anything wrong please let me know!

There's just my son and I. Ds is 4 and eats very little really but he wastes a lot lol. I also buy treats for him, which I tend to help him devour. :D I'm thinking as it's my first month I'd like to put down £150 which would include food, cleaning stuff and pet food etc but exclude alcohol. :o Does this sound do-able?

I'll be starting it from the 1st to the end of each month. Off to update my siggy.
