My dmp startout journey

No I dont think you have to have defaulted as I told the cccs guy on the phone that I hadnt defaulted as yet.
I think you actually default as a matter of course. I.e.....you decide to go onto dmp, first things to do, set up an 'safe' bank account and cancel all creditor direct debits then write to them telling them your cccs reference number and token payment (not sure they are in any particular order). So in effect, once you cancel the direct debits you are then on the road to default!
RG sounds like you have made your mind up, but please speak to cccs first as they are the professionals not us....our is only an opinion and for support. I would hate to sway you into making the wrong decision for you.0 -
Oh, dont know if this is true, but I heard you had to have defaulted on at least one thing to get a dmp...maybe someone can confirm or deny this?
No you don't have to have defaulted to start a DMP - but it is likely that your creditors will issue defaults once it's in place.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Just checked out the payplan bank accounts link and it says that natwest is linked to royal bank of scotland. Is this the same as the bank of scotland which is linked to halifax as if it is I wont be able to use them.
OMG this is a bloody minefield!!0 -

Yup, Natwest is part of RBS...... but RBS and BOS are different instituations.
It is a minefield and really hard to find unlinked ones.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

A thought has just occurred to me......I have my reference number for cccs, have sent them an e-mail advising them that due to not being able to set a bank account up yet and needing to wait for that and to make sure my wages go in ok, I am expecting it to be 1st april before the dmp can kick in.
My thought is this....I have written to the creditors with token payments and sent them the letter 'please contact cccs'. What will cccs do when they have nothing to work with yet?0 -

How are you doing scared-sick?
Not heard from you for a while
You know when you wrote the letters above, did you do the "please contact CCCS as I'm in doody" letter separate from the "here's my token payment" letter?
I'm just wondering as I'm about to do the same and wondered if you can kill two birds with the one stone in the same letter?
Also, did you send the letters to the addresses on the last credit card statements you had from each creditor?
Would love to know how you're doing and you are okay?.0 -

Hi RG,
Thanks for the message. I am doing good thanks. I have been hanging around the boards still reading and absorbing all the advice whilst quietly hiding in the background!
Sounds like you have come on leaps and bounds. I have seen on here that you have gone from asking all the questions to managing to give advice to scared people who are in the same position as you WERE a short time ago!! It is amazing how things turn around isnt it. Well done You!!
I actually killed 3 birds in one stone with my letters. I told them about cccs dealing with it all, included token payments AND asked them not to contact me by phone either at home or at work. So far I have had 1 tried to ring me last Thursday but not again since and thats it! I have heard nothing else from anyone either by letter or phone, I just hope it stays that way!:)
And yes I just found an address on each of the statements and sent it there. I figured if it had gone to the wrong department then they would soon forward it on to the right one!
So I am just biding my time getting all my paperwork together. Waiting for new ink to come for my printer so I can print off all the cccs agreements and should be all set to post off at the end of this month.
Oh and I managed to set up a new bank account with NO overdraft but did get a cheque book which I know you were asking about. Its with Natwest. Not my favourite bank but if I cant get into trouble, im hoping they should be ok!;)0 -

Cheers! It hasn't been easy at times, but I'm still here, and still determined to get out of this debt hell I am in. I have been helped by so many kind people on this forum I just wanna repay that and try and help other people. This is a great place :jI actually killed 3 birds in one stone with my letters. Wow, even better! 3 in 1Way to go :T
Think I will do that tomorrow night, hope you don't mind me pinching your fab idea? :beer:So I am just biding my time getting all my paperwork together. Again, thats great news! I am still awaiting the paperwork for my basic "Cashminder" account so it's looking good.
So, what I really need is:
a) The account number & sortcode for the Co-Op account to give to my payroll dept.
b) The CCCS email (as above)
c) Get my "3-in-1" creditors letter typed and printed out to send off to the people I owe money too! Again, I need the CCCS email to include their reference number in the letter!
d) Learn to breathe again and relax, ha ha :rotfl:
Keep on posting! I want to know how you are getting on!
Well done :T.0 -

d) Learn to breathe again and relax I'm trying my best.0 -
Hi, panicing so much now, I have all the creditors letters typed up and saved in WORD, so I can send them to work and print them out, however I am having difficulty finding the postal addresses to use to send the letters to
The latest MBNA and OPUS statements have come in the post and handily contain envelopes to send payment to in the post (thats standard, and I take no notice as they used to be paid via Direct Debit).
But the address on the OPUS statement and envelope differ:
Opus Customer Services
PO Box 136
Sheffield
S98 1HB
and
Opus Card Services
PO Box 142
Sheffield
S98 1HH
...on the envelope?
The MBNA envelope says:
Card Services
Thynne Street
Bolton
BL11 1AZ
but at the bottom of the statement it says:
MBNA Europe Bank Limited
Stansfield House
Chester Business Park
Chester
CH4 9QQ
(that is Head Office)
The recent Northern Rock "your bank says that they are unable to honour your direct debit" letter wanting overdue payment of £0.00 is headed:
NRAM Personal Loans
Selectapost 19
Rotherham
S97 3DG
Yet the postage paid envelope enclosed says:
NRAM Personal Loans
Special Accounts Department
Claypit Lane
LEEDS
LS2 8AE
The MINT and BARCLAYCARD statements are online only, so who do I sent those letters to?
The bank overdraft letter is easy, that's my local branch but I won't send that until I know my pay has gone to the NEW account.
A recent RBS Visa letter saying they are upping the APR on my card says:
Cards Customer Services
PO Box 5747
Southend-On-Sea
SS1 9AJ.0
