I wish I'd already started a DMP so I was in line with you scared-sick and FeeFeeDee !

  • Just tried to apply for a current account online with natwest. It went through and said I had been accepted!! Yay!! Input the details to switch direct debits etc, was allowed to input details so they could confirm my identity online.....then final page where they tell you your details....'we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with this page'...Arrrgg!! So now I dont know if it set up or not and the department I need is now closed so will have to wait until Monday to ring them and find out!!

I hope this isnt the start of how things are going to go from now on!!

I believe there is a list of accounts that dont do a credit check listed in one of the guides on main site. I applied online because I couldnt face a person across a desk if I got turned down. I dont believe I was credit checked for this one tho, so do a search and see what u come up with.
My debt advisor told me all letters I had received so for were bog standard, designed to scare me, she said to ignore them. Try not to worry ss....we're on the right path now...chin up x

Yeah, I dont really want to face anyone face to face only to be turned down at the minute too. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that I have got into this mess and it was hard enough making that first phone call and admitting I needed help!

I dont mind if they send letters and have actually asked them to do this in the initial token payments letters. It will be the phone calls that get me. My son will hear them and will worry. And if I get any calls at work, I think i will die of embarrassment!! :o

Thanks for your advice though, it is so reassuring to know there are other people in the same boat!

    And RG.....you will get there!

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll be fine come Monday morning :)

Don't be pessimistic, that crown belongs to me LOL.

I take it no one has applied for a basic account with a fee free ovedraft?
    (Please don't scream at me!)

Yes, I know the whole point of starting a DMP is to get out of debt, but I'm really scared that I won't have anything to live on once I start with a new account and with not being able to use a credit card, it would be nice to have an emergency buffer or limited overdraft in case you are really desparate some months (but only in a real emergency).

I was looking at this one, as it does come with an automatic fee-free £200 overdraft:

Oh, Mr.Magoo here didn't read that post! If I'm gonna get credit checked there's no chance I'll get another account with an overdraft despite NEVER going over my current £200 one and having NEVER missed a monthly payment or been late.

Rg....have u done ur soa so u know what u can offer ur to pay against ur debts? We figured I had £250 left over a month to split between my debts....this was after alllllll other bills, food, clothing etc had been factored in....so I should actually feel more comfortable with no need for ANY type of credit...including an overdraft...it was made clear to me I wasnt allowed to have any further debt, no catalogue...nothing!! I said, what if my washing machine packs up....she gave me a credit union leaflet and said she would be mad if I had any other borrowing at all.
Sooooo....no overdraft fee free or otherwise lol

    ....steps back into light....

Ouch! Slapped wrist at Sooooo....no overdraft fee free or otherwise lol!

I did complete a Debt Remedy with CCCS late last year but never completed it due to various reasons, but that suggested I only have £144 free a month to offer creditors :(
I guess thats why it said my DMP would take 12 years to pay off :(

I need to re-do as I'm sure I missed a debt off that.
Apologies again for posting in here. I did start my own thread and hope scared-sick doesn't mind? Sorry!
