I used to be of the same opion that what happens in emergencies etc. However, it had got to the point where I was maxed out on credit cards and could not get anymore, so what is the point of having a credit card I cannot use!
Second, if I did have an emergency and somehow did manage to get credit, I am so pushed to the limit, I couldnt afford to pay back another penny.
So when I first did the cccs debt remedy then rang them, the man said, is that enough for food, you havenet put anything down for this that and the other. I felt guilty putting down money for things I have had to do without for months and months. As he said though, this is for the long haul so I need to make sure I am comfortable with the budget but not extravagant! I will now have money for food and petrol WITHOUT having to work 40 hours overtime and never seeing my son!!
I also get to put a small amount into an emergency fund! I have also read on hear that if something unexpected does come up, ring cccs and they will adapt your payment that month to help you get by! This seems like amuch better option to me.0 -
Oh....also I felt as if I wasnt credit checked because I didnt ask for account with overdraft....might be wrong about that tho....
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

Yes, it was you FeeFeeDee! But it's okay as I only needed one person to tell me to "avoid an account with an overdraft" kinda thing to make the penny finally drop
In the spotlight from now I, I promise!

Good luck with your journey Fee. Is your DAS the same as a DMP?

I was exactly the same ss, nowhere left to turn if there was an emergency, but now it will take a month or more to all kick in, so im saving all the cc and loan payments im not making this month...that can be my emergency fund
so please press my :T thanks :Tbutton x

I think the hardest thing is getting into the mindset of making an SOA that includes everything you would normally put on a credit card into the SOA, for example I'd bung my annual £1k car insurance on a card, then the last lot of servicing at £350 on one also = which will now equate to £112.50 a month for car insurance and servicing etc!
Must remember to divide this all up into 12 payments and that I won't have any credit card usage soon..0 -

Me too hun!! What a difference it will make to know I have a little bit of money if I need it. It was amazing what was classed as an 'emergency' when I had the credit cards!
Now I am hoping to hold onto that emergency money for as long as I can!!
When do you make your first dmp payment? I am hopig I will have everything sorted and set up for cccs to take the first payment on 1st april.
Off to watch a movie with ds now. Will be back on later.
RG...enjoy your beans on toast!! yum!0
