So what are you meant to do if you travel to somewhere like America, where they do not use chip and pin?

I totally agree with that. Most of the countries still use the stripe swap system and what will you do where chip n pin is not accepted?!?

Why cant it work with paypal?

Because paypal dont recognise this card. This is an issue which should be resolved by citibank with paypal.

Sorry to bring this thread back to the front but just wondered if anyone had the answer to my earlier question.

Can you use your Citibank Visa card abroad if the country you are visiting doesn't have chip and pin?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep! Quite a few questions would be resolved quicker if you called Citbank direct ..it's an 0800 no after all.

    0800 00 88 00 for those who need it

0800 00 55 00 if you already have an account with them

This has been discussed and if you call Citibank they state it is for customer security and they don't allow swipe and sign.

I am wondering now, because of the sheer amount of Citibank threads, we should take Edinburghlass's offer of merging them all to provide a one stop thread to discuss all these issues?

Totally agree DM , I do think its time to get citi discussions in one place , seems to be more and more citi threads almost daily now , much easier for evryone if q's and a's could be found in one place??

    sam.
