Citibank Visa Debit Card

Just a word of warning I have a Citibank visa debit card and have been having problems using it in places where chip and pin is not used.
I tried calling citibank but they were pretty much useless so if anyone else is having problems then could you let me know as I am about to write to Citibank about this issue.
I would like to think it is just my card that is the problem if so I will get it changed.
Thanks in advance
Ben

What kind of places do you mean that chip and pin is not used in, I thought all retailers had to use it nowadays

Unless you mean abroad/online?0 -
The CitiBank Visa Debit card can only be used for Chip and Pin transactions.
Swiped transactions will decline.0 -

This has been discussed in an other thread before. The citibank Visa debit card can only be used on chip n pin terminals only. The strip is for ATMs only.
An other problem with this card is that it cant be linked with paypal.
I hope citibank will sort out these problems soon.<<If you liked what I said then feel free to click on the thanks button>>0 -
I can't see them sorting out the chip&pin issue as where I work (Asda) ANY card with a chip will decline if swiped. I've not had any problems as I don't know anywhere that don't use c&p, haven't tried paypal yet, more than happy though0

This has been discussed and if you call Citibank they state it is for customer security and they don't allow swipe and sign.
I am wondering now, because of the sheer amount of Citibank threads, we should take Edinburghlass's offer of merging them all to provide a one stop thread to discuss all these issues?£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

Before Tesco put chip and pin machines on their self service checkouts (in December), any card could be swiped without PIN or signature for transactions up to £100 and all of my cards worked in it without a problem...0 -
Thanks for your input just wondered what happens when you are abroad and you are in a country that doesn't have Chip + Pin. Will the card work?
If not what is the point in saying it is a visa debit card?0
