Well done everyone, great losses!
Lisa, its so hard when family are unsupportive. Its bad enough with friends and workmates who seem to revel in seeing you fall off the wagon but when its at home it can be even harder. Stay with us for support and everytime your asked say no, the more you refuse the more they may get the message. How much control do you have over the shopping/meals prepared?0 -

I can eat what I want and buy my own food so it isn't so bad really in that respect, I have no control over their shopping though.
I have managed to say No most of the time although last week I had a cream cakethey just make it so hard and it is so tempting its like I'm having a constant battle to say no x

Argh!!!
I currently live at home with my mum who weighs about 18 stone and my overweight stepdad so you would think it would be easy to do it together.....
So far this month they have spent about £15 on sweets, cream cakes, chocolate etc I've tried talking to them and I know the nurse has mentioned it to my mum but they don't care.
I was asked twice last week if I wanted fish and chips for tea  Does my mum just not get it? or realise how bloody hard it is to diet when people ask if I want a take away, a cream cake or every time I go near the kitchen I am faced with cake and chocolate.
Saying 'No' while shopping is easy because I can move on then leave the shop.
I do allow a cheat day which is a Saturday, I usually go out for a meal on a Saturday and it keeps me on track but the week days are becoming a struggle.
Your mum won't stay at 18 stone if she goes on like that, because as the years pass and you get older, it becomes much more difficult to lose weight - although not impossible - but it DOES become much easier to put it on!!!
Mum and stepdad are also probably at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes. Sooner or later the poor old pancreas gets tired of having to produce huge amounts of insulin to cope with all that sugar, and gives up the struggle.
We went to a funeral yesterday, approx 70 miles from home. Because we knew the Requiem Mass was at lunch-time we had a decent breakfast, boiled egg and wholemeal seeded bread (we get this from our local artisan baker). From church to the cemetery, we didn't do this bit because (a) paths were treacherous and (b) we thought we'd find somewhere and have lunch rather than waiting for the buffet at the wake. From experience, buffet at a wake is usually things we can't eat anyway! We went to the pub next to the hotel where the wake was to be held. I had beef casserole cooked with herbs and red wine, peas and mashed potato. DH had gammon, egg and chips. We rarely eat potato these days but both the mash, and the chips, were lovely. That was it. I didn't have anything else until we got home, although there was a lot of food at the buffet but nothing I wanted or fancied.
I can't always watch evening TV because the food ads are really there 'in your face'. Magnum ice lollies sponsor a drama series, for instance! I look away and hit the 'silent' button.
Keep saying 'no' and eventually they'll get the message. Fish and chips for tea twice in a week!!! We're able to make a meal for the two of us which is cheaper than fish and chips and far better for us. Even when we buy a cooked organic chicken from Waitrose, it can last us 2 days, the second day eaten cold, with salad or in sandwiches. People think this is extravagant but really, it is darned good value, and far better than fish and chips.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

.
They both already have health problems, my mum suffers with arthritis but neither are people you can't talk to so I no longer bother as long as I am ok that is all that matters.
Just wish they would respect my wishes and make it a little easier for me.0 -
I have had a miracle this week, so I've done no exercise other than walking. Saturday was a very bad day due to me sulking over being out of action
Went for my depo and weighed in I have lost 2.5lbs
Don't ask me how or where as I have no idea.0
