Best way = get someone else to do it
Cheapest way = elbow grease and stardrops

I cleaned mine today with Oven Pride. It's reasonably easy although the bag leaked and I got dirty gunk all over the kitchen floor.

    Hi,

I use Bar Keepers Friend it can be found in all supermarkets in the cleaning isle.

Its a white powder, I put some on the drainer, then use a scourer and rub it on.

    Its works really really well.

What I do is about once a month I take out a shelf a night after washing up (ours has three shelves) and scrub with this powder, it works really well.

Edited to add, I see the link is for an American site, but I assure you its available in Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys, I've been using it for years.
  • Hi,

I think it depends how grotty your oven is!

For maintenance hot water, stardrops or cream clenser.

For an oven which has been ignored for sometime (like mine, until recently!!) the Lakeland gel cleaner called Oven Mate is brilliant!!

  • i use stardrops for mine but did pick up some oven pride in sainsburys last week as it was on offer

  • If your oven is in a bit of a state (I must admit, my oven only gets cleaned when my Mum comes to stay at Christmas!) I recommend Oven Pride - it's cheap and, if you leave it overnight, really effective. When my daughter moved out from her uni house the oven hadn't been cleaned for years and Oven Pride took care of it.
Don't judge people on they way they look, the way they speak or what they're called because they can't help that.

Only judge people on what they say and what they do.

I put the racks in the dishwasher and clean the oven with my mini steam cleaner. I hate that elbow grease, I find it plays havoc with my spare time.

Depends what state your oven is in really. Got any biological washing powder? Bicarb and vinegar?

Failing that, regular washing up liquid or a dab of cream cleaner, the scrubby side of the washing up sponge, and plenty of elbow grease. Just think of all the exercise you're getting!

Lots of suggestions here :D I'll merge this later.

Don;t bother mixing bicarb and vinegar - just make a stiff paste of bicarb and water and use that - it's mildly abraisive as it cleans. Once you're done you can wipe over with a dilute solution of vinegar or lemon juice to help it shine ;)
