Try and get one of those ceramic hob scrapers, they are fantastic, although TBH I usually find that astonish and some wire wool or a scrubby usually do a really good job, it must be really bad.

It is awful but he went and bought it on his own couldn't wait for me to go with him and paid far to much for it.I think I have got an afternoon of scrubbing coming up!

I did ring a couple this morning its one of those range ovens but with one big oven and I was quoted £140 by the cheapest one and at the moment it has broke me him moving out as have had to help him a lot financially and I just dont think I can afford it now:(

    Thanks for your replies

His home, his oven...am I the only one wondering why you are cleaning it not him?

And yes, I know I am very harsh - but it'll do him good in the long run!

No your not being harsh and I do agree but he has not been able to get anytime of work and has been so busy cleaning the rest of the place and doing odd jobs to tidy it up I thought I would do it for him (I must admit I have a real problem with dirty cooks:( Some people have said I am OCD I say nothing wrong with a clean cooker and home!)

A friend of mine rented out her home and when the tenant left last year the oven was in a disgusting state:-

We used Oven pride for the racks - left them in the bag for 24 hrs and they came up a lovely. We cleaned the oven twice with a cleaner from Lakeland - its the neff recommended professional oven cleaner.

I know that its not a home remedy and its nasty chemicals but needs must and they worked a treat.

Good luck to you with the oven and to your son in his new home :)
