Hi otterspasm,
As your thread has dropped from the front page of Old Style I've added it to the main oven cleaning thread to keep the suggestions together.

Thanks Pink-winged :-)
I've had a go at the cooker. The shelves are soaking in biological washing powder and water in the bath. I've scraped the really grotty stuff off the bottom with an old cheese slicer and have scrubbed it a bit with a pan scrub but think I really need a brillo pad or a new oven :rotfl:
Needs more work but I've made a start...thanks for all of your suggestions.
I'm feeling quite angelic and pleased with myself :A:rotfl:Tess x

Eek! I just had another go at it and decided it would be a good idea to take the door to pieces to clean in between the two layers of glass....for a mintue there I thought I wasn't going to be able to get it back together again...nothing seemed to fit!!
Managed it in the end though and its lots cleaner so phew!
Just wanted to share :-)Tess x

Save time and money.
After using the oven, leave the shelves in on a low light whilst you have your meal then remove them and wipe with a damp cloth, if you do this every time they will never need scrubbing or expensive stuff to clean them, do the same with the hob as well and your cooker will live longer and always be clean!
It's not time consuming it's just a habit you get in to.
My Mum used to do that and I simply followed the routine when I got married .You live..You learn.:)0 -

Have you tried a paint scraper? I use one to scrape all the worst of the burnt bits of it doesn't damage the glass at all.. use it on the oven floor as well ..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Is the oven door removable? If it is you can soak the glass door in a solution of biological laundry detergent and that should shift everything. If not, I'd make up a solution, smear it all over and leave it for a bit and see if it works that way0
