what can i say
if you read my post i was referring to fords at £1000 suitable for her needs and this would be fiestas and kas i used to sell these cars and i wont now at this price because they are all rotten or clagged up
you might as well have said buy a mercedes 190 because these dont rust as pick up on a mondeo that didnt
picking things out of context in my post is childish
i wouldnt mind but you are only a figment of some drawers imagination anyway, get back in your a4 drawing book:mad::D
So you're the Arthur Dailey of MSE and we should all believe what YOU say????:eek::eek:"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
dont so sure a mondeo of the age the OP could afford wont be littered in rust ive seen a few examples of 04 and below rust around the rear arches and lower doors around the petrol cap and under the sills and the estate boot hatch rusts like no tomorror around the hindges and the inner boot lid blows your theory out the water about them.
i wouldnt pusrchase a KA/fiesta under 6 yrs old purely because in the short term you know rust is not far away and higher price tags that come with insurers.
micra, yes would be a good buy if the timing chain tensioners havent gone and hasnt been sat around for most of its life used as a church car.
again the not so norm cars tend to bring cheaper quotes but dependant on where you live if you have a experienced named driver and a accurate job title.0 -

You sure have been unlucky with the Mondeo's you have seen then.
My own Mk 3 estate (2001) as mentioned before had not one speck of rust or corrosion.
I also know of four other Mk 3 Mondeos (two hatchback and two estates) which similarly have no problems with rust or corrosion. They are the favoured transport in our caravan club.
The OP is not going to buy a Mondeo. She wants and needs a small car."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

That's enough to put most off them.0 -
blue rinse headed poppasmurf_bewdley saysThey are the favoured transport in our caravan club.
so you are in a thread boasting about old mondeos from the last century
you sit in plastic chairs bemoaning the world whilst cluttering our lanes in your plastic boxes
yet you call me an arthur dailey because i advise the car this young lady needs
no wonder you have a blue head
please keep to telling people about your old rot box in appropriate threads
i thank you0 -
Hi, this might come as a surprise: you could consider a Fiat Panda (2004 on). They are reliable (made in Poland) and the Panda is the cheaper - more spacious and more doors - base upon which the 500 and the "new" KA are built. Early high mileage examples are now starting at around £1000. There is an active and friendly owner community (fiatforum.com/panda) that you could join (or lurk in
)
I have a five year old MultiJet turbo diesel, which I bought over four years ago, and I've had no problems with it. I have been very happy with it over my years of ownership. It's a good, easy to drive, car.
The insurance grouping is low and you might even be able to budget less for cover and a little more for the car. You could use the aforementioned car reg trick to check your personal circumstances.0 -

Spaced out again then?"There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Daughter 18 when she passed her test 6 months ago, did some searching around and got her a Peugeot 106 which is one of the lowest insurance groups, cost her £1400 for the 1st years insurance, coupled with 50mpg around town and £20 a year road tax, and it adds up to cheap (for an 18 year old) motoring.0
