Sorry to report that this site is as reliable as the rest of the talex service. it does not recognise my subscription and despite 3 telephone calls and offering proof of current subscription i cannot get my forgotten password.
NOT exactly encouraging brand loyalty and further subscription!

    Finally got back on line...

Anyway.. Heres another little email I got from adam concerning his "Other" detector..

Apologies if you have received this email twice, but there was
a problem with my computer yesterday so I'm not sure if it went
    or not...

We've had a tip-off from a BTST insider that the speed limit for
Speed Cameras on the M25 is being changed imminently.

The speed cameras are situated between Junctions 10
    and 15 of the M25
    .

The cameras used to be triggered at 93MPH under normal
    conditions, but with the change
the speed at which you will
get fined will be reduced to 80MPH
    .

Our information tells us that the new speed limit is going live
    on Friday 15th February.

I can’t be sure that this date is 100% accurate, but it’s the
information that’s been leaked to me.

If you already own a BTST Locator, then I strongly suggest
you update it NOW before the new Speed Limits go live.

If not, then you can grab your own Locator at:

    All the best,

    Adam Blair

Do you think this means he is saying it is all right to break the speed limit??? Surely his detector should be triggered at 70 MPH which is the LEGAL speed for that road instead of letting users do up to 93. Sort of seems to be against the whole principle of having these to be warned of black spots when he is still telling people they can do 80 and still not get caught... This guy just seems to get worse and worse.

www.activegps.co.uk have them at £15.95. I bought my Talex Lite from them and the cable was in the box.

Go to 'accessories' and then 'Talex Lite'.

a bit pricey but I hope this helps.

Very pricey considering it's looks like it's just a usb plug and a 2.5mm 4-Pole Jack Plug on the other end , I could buy the both of them for under £3 and make my own cable up............................................ if only I knew the cable to pin layout between the two plugs.

There has been some discussion on the local Hillingdon forum about this.

I travel junctions 11 to 15 on the M25 every weekday, as do a few others on the Hillingdon forum and we are all of the opinion that no cameras are actually installed on any of the new spaceframe gantries.

Since seeing this warning last week I have paid specific attention to all the gantries and I still cannot see any cameras or anything resembling a camera housing at all.

I could be wrong though and I'll never find out because I never do 80mph in this variable speed limit section.
  • I think both companies are just trying it on, although as one is free it seems a no brainer to anybody without a subscription.

Alas I am 5 months into a 3 year contract with Talex so I'm stuck with Adam "GPS detectors are rubbish until they make radar detectors illegal and I still need to make a quick buck" Blair.

I'm up to date and so far it's not missed a camera, given a few spurious warnings for phantom cameras but this is better than missing any.

    a little googling found this
    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=63841
    and this
    http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=375431#375431

so it is hardly hot off the press from friend blair.
  • Given all the problems with Talex that many of us are experiencing, i'll share with you my experiences of Adam Blair.

I bought my Talex unit through a website operated by Mr Blair (why is that name so frequently associated with lies...?) called talexuk.com - which now defaults to his BTST site.

On it, he claimed no quibble moneyback guarantee, will match a better deal in 30 days, will e-mail you every week when Talex updates are available, etc, etc.

Well, I DID find it cheaper elsewhere, and e-mailed him. It took a long time, and many e-mails before I got any reply (does this sound familiar?) before eventually getting an e-mail saying they would refund only part of the difference because of their 'added value' stuff above.

To cut a long story short, 2 years later the cheque still hasn't arrived.

Give this man your money at your peril.

I also phoned him to see where I am with the 2 year warranty if the product broke down and amazingly I always get cut off before the answer...
  • So with all the malarky and the above email about the M25 cameras..........

I updated my Talex yesterday (Sunday) with the latest download from Talex (not Novus), drove to work this morning along the M25, junctions 15 to 11, and not a single camera warning !!!!!!!!!!
