Do not use these on an electric shower as you could seriously damage it. These do nothing more than bung up the the hose of your shower - in the same way dirt or scale would. Imagine your £1,000 deluxe power shower having to push all that water through a much smaller hole - do you think it's going to last very long!
You can only use this on a shower connected to your taps, but why bother, just turn the taps! (which funnily enough were invented to alter flow rate - doh!)
I totally concur. Not only are they pointless (you can just turn down the taps instead) they actually leak like crazy! The instructions warn of this but claim leaking will stop after a few days! It does not!!! I removed the damn thing and threw it in the bin. BTW I have a combi boiler. Also, if your hose connection is a bit faulty, you are sure to screw it up by using this device.
I did get a useful free product from EAGA though that turns of ALL computer peripherals when the computer is switched off. I found it works very well with my TV instead! I turn off the TV (or just put it on standby) and it switches off my satellite system and dvd player.0 -
Not very happy about this site. I read the warning here about receiving further offers - there's no mention on the site, and when I clicked on terms and conditions, it just said "contact us". Didn't say how. There's no clue on the site. What have they got to hide?0

I agree it sound suspect for many reasons.
I have a replacement shower head called an Ecocamel that I bought a few weeks back. Now this really does work (and no, I have nothing to do with them!)
The website is easily found (it will not let me post the link, but just Google "Ecocamel")
It works by some complicated turbo device (waffle about this is on their site) but the simple fact is that it works pretty much as described, and the quality of shower is slightly better in that the flow feels good in terms of quantity of water, but the old shower head could sting the skin. (Please note I am using this on a mains pressure water shower, with no pump)
I just measured it by comparing one against the other. I am not sure of the size of the bucket I used, but the time taken for the old head to fill the bucket (taps on full) was 44 sec and with the Ecocamel was 74 secs. That represents a reduction in use of 40.5% water flow per minute. And of course you use less hot water too. This would be of no value if you had to stay in 40% longer to get to fully clean, but I genuinely have no need to stay in longer.

Sorry to pour water [no pun intended] on what is being perceived as a great idea but, frankly, this is a gimmick - pure and simple. I shower daily and adjust the flow of water [down] to an acceptable level. I certainly don't need a gadget which slows the water flow by simply reducing the internal bore of the pipe.
No reason why we shouldn't find the bulbs useful, though.0 -
Hi everyone,
I have recieved and started using my Showersmart on recommendation from some earlier posts. It is great and seems to be doing the job well, some people seem to have had problems with this but I guess it depends what shower fittings you have.
I think its a rather nifty bit of kit! They include a measuring bag in the package as well which can help you monitor your water useage. If everyone gets one of these maybe it will mean we can all water our plants for a bit longer this year! HaHa!:rotfl:
Get yours at showersmart4free.co.uk0 -
im just going to use the free lightbulbs you are getting with it on the eaga website....0

I suppose if you were a car mechanic, you would get a fair few boy racer customers asking if you could tweak their engines. People in the West fed by advertising, conceive conspicuous consumption, as an increase in their standard of living; "minimum adequate" does not appeal.
My shower head came with two sizes of holes, so I used the small ones.
However my problem is that the cold comes off the mains while the hot comes with the pressure of the tank in the loft and I live in a bungalow.:rotfl:
This means making sure nobody turns on the kitchen taps, then turning the hot onto maximum and carefully edging on the cold - there is a real skill to it.
Get it wrong and the cold water starts making its way towards the hot tank.
Any suggestions for reducing the pressure on the cold side?
Harry.
PS My daughter has come up with a novel solution at her place:
Her electric shower died of old age; so she went out and bought a must have replacement at some local DIY shed.
(Presumably she fitted it illegally?)
Now she can have an 8 minute luxury shower before the circuit breaker (aka "the fuse" in 20th century technology speak ) over heats and trips out:eek::rotfl::eek:.
Where did I go wrong ?0 -

It been put forward as a possible money saving gadget. Free as well.
So I'll get one & try it. Some people seem to like it.0 -

The rest of the family just kept complaining that they were in the shower another 5 mins trying to wash their hair properly. So you are quite correct longer x less water = same water as before and worse pleasure.
EXACTLY. Load of crap or what....
Its like the bags/balls or whatever you stick in the toilet cistern. Uses lesss water but sometimes you have to flush twice....0 -

Depends what type of shower you have - a mixer valve won't alter the pressure. Fit a power shower, raise your hot water tank in the loft to give a greater head of pressure, increase the size of the pipes to 22mm for the cold or try turning your stop !!!! half a turn.
EDIT: just realised it doesn't let me say c**k and adds !!!! - that amused me - ohh !!!!, wonder if this bollock computer will edit this load of !!!!0
