He's not one of those bike snobs that post on hukd is he ? "The bikes not worth getting unless it costs £1500 blah blah blah" :p:D

No point getting a second hand bike unless you know what your doing, what if the frames cracked, bearings worn etc ?

The £40 bike from T's is fine for normal use, just make sure you tighten the pedals etc up properly first.

    Lol
    No!
He doesn't do money saving. But he does get some pretty cheap bikes sometimes (giants, orange 5s etc) I am quite happy with my Raleigh that I got for 99p :)
There's loads of bike forums out there with enthusiasts that will lead you in the right direction

If your youth is only 6 years ago, then lucky you :rotfl:

That seems quick to me, I used to swim 1500m in 45 mins, a mixture of strokes. But there again I have never quite done 3 miles.
I only learnt front crawl 4 years ago for a Swimtrek 'holiday' ....more of endurance test really, but interesting!
I am determind to get back to my 1500m in 45 mins in the next few months. Then get in the sea a few times in the summer.

Do you live near the sea? You sound like you would be good enough to do one of the charity swims they put on in the summer.

    *eta* Good night all

I live about half an hour away from cleethorpes lol
That's really quick! You good swimmer you! My hubby does triathlons so he keeps telling me to do open water swims but shhh don't tell anyone but I'm scared of water. I only do breaststroke so my face is no where neat that water! Even then I nearly half drown every length!!

    Morning elite squad! :)

    Morning all.

I'm about to print off some free fish n chips vouchers for BHS. If you are in town today why not get yourself a free lunch?!

I hope they let me use em. It says one per transaction do I'm hoping they will allow the kids to use their own. I should be able to try a couple of new stores today too. Well, not new exactly but not local. There are quite a few from here that frequent them so I guess the shelves will be bare :D

I'm hoping i might bump into a friend of martins at the scanners. That always cheers me up!!

Miss Laid, it's getting lighter now. You can start cleaning your windows.
It gives a whole new meaning to the term 'Rise and Shine'!

    Have a great day all.

looking a bit of advice re bikes.
Looking for a bike which would hold me, am overweight  but determined to get out and about with DS for some us time away from extended family we're forced to live with at the moment due to housing executive taking their sweet time getting us somewhere to live. Sorry for mini rant.
    Back to the bike issue
Have been looking at the ones on Mr T's site thanks to MSEr who posted the cheap bike on this thread
    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-4217.aspx
Have looked at this one and was wondering if anyone would know what weight it would hold up to as I can't find the details on that page.
Also I haven't rode a bike for about 15 - 20 yrs so not sure what ones on there would be best. Have decided that will practise in the alley behind my mum's house :rotfl: before embarassing DS at the park but know it'll take time for me to be at his speed but also think it's what he needs at the moment because the situation at home is driving both of us crazy
    TIA
i just bought a new bike not the one you are looking at but this is what mine says

warning your bicycle is designed to carry the following weights

    26" cycles: bike + rider + luggage ... 115kgs (18stone)
    26" cycles: bike + rider + luggage ... 85kgs (13stone)
    26" cycles: bike + rider + luggage ... 65kgs (10stone)

note deducting the bicycle weight gives the permissable weight of rider + luggage

    Busy morning
    school run
    couple of Ts
housing executive to turn down the damp dump they're trying to put my asthmatic DS into

Might just do Ts after the housing exec because I'll probably need cheering up :)
