I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

Ah thanks, I can't believe it myself to be honest ;) I think it must have just been the right time to stop, think that's why now I'm determind to try and get a bit healthier. I smoked for 30years:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: and was on 20 a day and up to 30 on a bad day! Can't tell you the difference financially now:)

mmmmmm well wii fit:o:o:o:o:o been there, got it, insisted I'd use it everyday. Used it for about a month:o I could ressurect it I suppose:cool: I think I'm seeing the machine as a bit of a challenge.I've given up smoking for 3 months now and when I smoked used to get so out of breath, but now I can walk & talk at the same time;) Thinking about it I also have a brand new bike thats been sitting in the bike shed for two years:oOff to see if it inclines:)

Well done on giving up smoking :)

You could try the Wii fit again, maybe get some new fitness 'games' for it..... or then again may as well just treat yourself to a treadmill. Check out the size and everything though. A lot of them aren't very long or sturdy. I've got a lovely Reebok one that I got about 10 years ago from john lewis, but since I moved house there isn't really anywhere to use it (that's my excuse anyway!)

Thanks deb, I normally do about 6 exercise classes a week and go to the gym but I'm in agony with shin splints so I thought I'd go back to swimming for a bit. In my youth (6years ago lol) I used to do 2-3 miles a day every day but I started back last week and I'm up to a mile in 40 minutes (breaststroke) which I'm quite happy with considering Im a bit older and a lot heavier!

Well done smart1e on winning the pub quiz! What's the prize?

If your youth is only 6 years ago, then lucky you :rotfl:

That seems quick to me, I used to swim 1500m in 45 mins, a mixture of strokes. But there again I have never quite done 3 miles.
I only learnt front crawl 4 years ago for a Swimtrek 'holiday' ....more of endurance test really, but interesting!
I am determind to get back to my 1500m in 45 mins in the next few months. Then get in the sea a few times in the summer.

Do you live near the sea? You sound like you would be good enough to do one of the charity swims they put on in the summer.

    *eta* Good night all

Nikki has it really been 3 months?? Well done:T Treat yourself to the treadmill if it's what you really want, think of how much money you've saved!! Really wish I could give up but every time I think I'm ready life just kicks me with something that I know I wouldn't be able to cope with without them....but my right time will come. DH and I both smoke so we've agreed to do it together, hopefully before the summer but not holding any major hopes at the minute
:heart2:Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.:heart2:

I tried loads of times before I gave up. Something seriously just clicked with me;)I'm trying so hard to get my OH to give up at the moment. It's working in that I've really got him to cut down but he won't give up properly till he's ready, I'm just giving him"gentle" shoves!! You'll do it when you're ready and think of how much better off you'll be. Trouble is you might be like me, I could afford to smoke so it wasnt an incentive to really give up, but now I just think what a waste it would have been of £600, that's how much I would have spent in the last 3 months:eek::eek::eek:

In that case we'll have to change your prescription to whoopsied Fruit and Veg. However in extreme circumstances you may...at your own discretion partake in a choccie pickme up,

:pno legal liability will be unertaken due to the misuse of choccolate medication :p

This happened to me, I called them back and complained, saying that I was assured it would be refunded and wasn't happy that I had to call yet again. They sent me a nice bottle of wine

Aw thanks geemi, I'll give them a ring tomorrow to complain. I'm so glad I checked, I know it's not much moneywise but as our favourite supermarket teaches us....every little helps ;):D
