I went out at 4.25 pm to go to see Mam and it took me 25 minutes to clear the windscreen  Small white hailstones rather than snow was falling but, with the icy wind, it was freezing as it hit the car and ground. As I walked to the car it was 'crunch crunch crunch'. The scraper wouldn't budge the ice on the screen, so I had to wait until the car warmed up and cleared it, so I didn't get down to the home until 5 pm when they were already wheeling the food trolleys back to the kitchens
Mam was sitting right up, with a beaker of soup at far side of table. I lowered her a little as she looked so cramped up, and checked the soup, which was very thick chicken & leek. There was no way Mam could have drank it out of the beaker's spout as it was so thick it hardly moved. Plus, she couldn't tip it up far enough and put her head back to get it out  Anyway, she ate it happy enough from a spoon and then I got her some ice cream with a rolo dessert which she ate no problems too, but she couldn't manage any tea. When the carer, note I said carer not nurse who it should have been , came with her liquid paracetamol and nebuliser to put on her, I said about the soup and the beaker and she said they would remember that for next time - well she's only been in there for 14 months, so wouldn't know that yet would they?
Roads were worse coming home but no problems. Very icy underfoot with the frozen hail so we are going to have to check what it's like in the morning before deciding when to see Mam
Just checked outside and it is still white and freeeeezingMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

perhaps we should reinstate it?only jesting guys
I have just had to get my coat and boots on and walk half way down the road as some idiot has double parked and completely blocked the road.
In the end we followed the footprints, which were almost snowed over and the dizzy cow said" ooh did I do that, I didn't notice the car opposite as it was snowing"
She had to drive round it to double park!!!You predicted this! Will you go and pick him up?
Me just back from picking up OH, 1 1/2 hr round trip for what's normally no more than a 1/2 journeyhad to help push two cars that were spinning in the snow, was narrowly missed on a roundabout by one spinning 180 as it came off (while I was waiting to get onto the circle of doom) and had another car fly out at a mini roundabout, mount the pavement opposite and then drive off not 20yards in front of me (thank goodness I wasn't crossing said mini circle of doom at the time else I'd have been toast) Rewarding my nerves with a glass of vino and thinking OH better be making me breakfast tomorrow as a thank you....actually, make that a full roast.
On top of that, I'll be clearing the snow outside (thank goodness I bought a snow shovel last year) as I am the only one out of us who has snow boots (bought for $50 in NY in 2008, reduced from $200...best purchase I ever made)
Oh and a load of kids were making a massive snowman in the road earlier, and have abondoned the body part right in the middle of the road, it's huge, must be 3/4 the height of a car - hoping no one drives into it tonight as it would prob do some real damage to a car but it's too big for me to try and move on my ownFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

It happens! Getting them home and safe and into their beds comes before anything else. I've been there to rescue them from pubs, hospitals, police stations, social services, foster care and they are not even my children!0 -
He will phone you soon from one of his friend's mobiles unless one of his friends has managed to contact their parents first. If he does ring you, you will have to squash the 6 of them into your car some how! Been there, got the tee shirt, the album, the video, the dvd etc! xxxxHappyChappy84 wrote: »Oh my god no!
