May be something to do with the profits warning that caused a major slide in the share price but as Warren Buffet says: "Be scared when people are greedy and be greedy when people are scared". Looks like with Tesco he's following his axiom:) He's not one of the worlds richest men for nothing
When the store has a sale everyone runs to grab a bargain.
When the stock market has a sale everyone runs away.
Often the best time to shop.
After the BP oil spill share price traded as low as £3.20 off of a high of £5 ish
Check the current price :cool:Back to square one, no apg, no comment.0 -
Evening all,
Haven't been able to keep up with thread for a while now, I suppose i have missed loads of glitches. I have only read the last few pages.
:TCongratulations for baby meerkat.:T
Has happychappy returned to us?? He is mentioned, but no sign of posts.
Managed to only find a couple of bargains yesterday. It may have already been posted, haven't done a search yet.
Tesco's Organix baby food jar, from 10 months -250g organic wholegrain pasta & pea pesto SEL 28p. barcode - 5 024141117206
Tesco's - Toy Story childrens cutlery - spoon, Fork and knife found all on it's lonesome scanned at 15p - found this last week.
Not tesco's but 6 pack Brita maxtra filter instore in sainsburys had a reduced to clear red SEL 70%off £32 down to £9.60. Might be store specific, but worth looking out for if you are there anyway. 0 -

Oh, believe me, OH has worked for some of them and they really don't know it all. Mark Getty and Bill Gates to name a couple. Not everyone gets rich from the famous. OH Does well but we will never be in their league even though OH Has worked for them IYKWIM. Yes, you can get a nice return from shares, however, high street shares are a long term investment...Avatar courtesey of HC :beer:0 -

No wonder Ts are down on their takings, the more they bin the more they will loose. Surely it has got to make more sense to put things like this on clearance shelves. OK so they may not want to sell them for 1p but a few pence more and I would still buy. I have recently bought loadsa Littlest Pet Shop toys from my local small Sainsbobs for 20(ish)p and been happy to pay the price. Why on earth don't Ts do the same with their non perishables????? Maybe the company is just like Microsoft and is run by people with no experience outside the company, brainwashed into thinking the way the company wants, just to be able to spout a load of standard garb. to the sharholders. Top management get your buts onto the shop floor, you have lost touch with your customers and have really lost the plot.
Sorry to rant, but I studied business and finance, worked in marketing for 14 years, 9 of which was in senior level and I fail to understand the logic in the decisions being made by Ts at the moment. OK rant over.
I overheard a SA talking to another a few weeks ago about the Freaky Fingers and went dashing over to the reduced section - nothing there. I reckon they must have a 'Staff Stash' in the back! To be honest I can't begrudge them that - they don't pay well so the staff need some perks!0 -
Mr T has a huge investment in the USA ( aka uk retailers knackers yard)
Taking on (Wal-Mart) in the USA isn't as smooth as Wal-Mart ( ASDA) taking on Tesco in the UK.
Fresh and Easy..lol school kids could do better.
If USA goes back into recession, could see Mr T taking a battering and the share price will reflect their over ambitious venture hence fund manager being cautious in stock selection.
Ideal time to buy at a cheap price making the dividend payout and even bigger bargain. Tesco will reinvent itself just as M&S have done. Don't believe what is posted as headlines in the popular press. I can see from what is posted on this thread that people are misinterpreting the news about Tesco. OK sales were down and there is a profits warning but what this actually means is that profits are still high but the year on year increase in profits may not be as much as the markets were expecting. Markets always over-react to any bad news and in this case they had already priced in a 10% rise. Markets are always forward looking so if Tesco say that they are only going to increase profits by say 5% then the market is dissapointed and shares slide. It may be a bit of a gamble but if I had spare cash at the moment I'd be buying more shares.:)
