Hi All
Artha when i phoned for travel insurance for Europe for a month last year my cost went from £30 to £200 when I declared illnesses. Ithen asked them to not cover pre existing conditions, due to knowing I wouldn't need hospitalisation for cfs or depression over there. The cost went back to £30 for 3 of us for a month. That was A$da insurance. I was covered for anything else though.

OK Folks, this is complicated, not available in many stores and you'll have to argue your case and even then you may not get it. But if you can you'll end up with a 7" Samsung Tablet for £149.
Some (not very many) Tesco stores are stocking the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, this tablet comes in 2 flavours - a 3G version (that allows you to make normal calls and use the Internet via your SIM) and a WiFi only version (that you need access to a WiFi connection to use the Internet with).
The two items are-
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.215-2292.aspx (We'll call this titled WiFi) £349.00
and
http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.215-2486.aspx (We'll call this titled 3G) £449.00
The problem is that Tesco have cocked up the item description and transposed the two models, if you click the details description for both units you'll see the titled WiFI version for £349 says it has 3G and a model number of GT-P6200 and the titled 3G version for £449 makes no mention of 3G and has a model number of GT-P6210.
If you check online Samsung make it clear the GT-P6200 has 3G and the GT-P6210 is WiFi only with no 3G.
So here's the opportunity.....
This will ONLY work instore and you have to go prepared.
If you phone customer services for Tesco they'll give you the instore model reference number for both models, VERY FEW stores hold these in stock probably only 20% of Extra stores is my guess.
Check the website to make sure they haven't changed the description before you go and then go and buy the £349 unit.
Take it away and open it (makes it more likely the manager will do a deal IMHO, if you take it back sealed then they're more likely to just give you a refund and put it back on the shelf).
When you go back show that you bought it based on 3G being on the model as confirmed by the Website and central customer services confirming the instore model reference number (as shown on the SEL), although the SEL states WiFi both models have WiFi so it's an insufficient description.....a better SEL should say WiFi only (no 3G).
Make your argument that therefore under DTD you should get a £200 refund on the unit thereby ending up with a GT-P6210 WiFi tablet for £149.
The manager may argue (mine did at first) that as I'd only been charged £349 I hadn't been overcharged, that I'd been missold against a wrong description and only offered a full refund. But as I'd opened the unit and registered it they realised all they could do at that stage would be return it into the system. At least if they did a DTD sale they could get the sale value and show the problem was elsewhere.
Good luck and hopefully one or two members will get tablets before they fix it.0 -

Sorry to be a party pooper for anyone filing a late tax return........they have changed the rules this year and from now on even if its a nil return or under £100 the fine of £100 stands and will not be refunded.
There are (apparently) two extra days, today and tomorrow which will allow late returns online as they are on strike and will not be checking until friday.hth0 -
Going slightly further O/T here but wondered how do these sort of things affect travel insurance in other peoples experience? I'm just sorting out european travel insurance for the summer. In previous years I've normally done this online and taken the cheapest I can get with cashback from Quidco. Although I've been to the docs a few times with problems+ treatments, I've had no major surgery and no residual problems so assumed that I didn't have to make any health declaration. After an unexpected problem with DDs Virgin backpacker insurance last year I decided to play safe and go direct to get a quote. Still with me? OK my elbow problem is not as bad as Nikkilala but I was told that because I have some ongoing physio treatment and had a course of anti-inflammatory drugs then my premium would be higher. Digging further I then went on to ask whether some anti-depressants I'd been on finishing in 2007 would affect things. Yes was the answer! Premium bumped again. I stopped there. Not sure what to do now? Any other experiences?:)I like these and I think I know where their might be some:T:T
Thank you:)
Artha, completely with you on this. I was severely anaemic a while back and apparently had been for a long time and was put on strong iron tablets and had to take them for a year, and have regular blood tests. I went on holiday and never really thought anything of it but apparently I found out when I came back that I wouldnt have been covered as I didnt declare it:eek:Only found out because a friend had the same problem and she was totally turned down for insurance!!Never even thought about insurance with my arm and I'm definately going away this summer:eek:
My Dad had a 'funny' turn last January, felt giddy, light headed, his leg felt numb and not himself for a few hours. My Mum nagged him to go the doctors as she tends to panic over illness. doctor thought he may have had a slight stroke so referred him to a consultant. Consultant did numerous tests, Dad was back 'n forth hospital for tests for several weeks. All came back normal, could find nothing wrong with him. GP advised him to take a daily dose of Asprin to try and prevent a stroke and that he would have to notify his holiday insurance company. Dad did this, told them he was given a 'clean bill of health' as they could find nothing wrong with him but his insurance premium still rose considerably as they said there was a slight possibility he had had a stroke and therefore could have one while on holiday.......madness :eek:Born to glitch0 -
