Was thinking of painting a 'muriel' ;) on the kids bedroom walls (e.g. a tree, some flowers and the animals and insects they know and then add to the scene as they learn new words). At the moment it's basic magnolia and we have some paint left over ... can you just add 'stuff' to colour it? E.g. coffee to make brown for the tree trunk? Or would poster paint do? Was thinking I'd have to get sample pots but they don't always have exciting colours.[/QU

I tried this once in my bathroom, i thought if i added cochineal food colouring to the paint i would have the shade of pink i wanted - WRONG!!! every time it got steamed up in the bathroom, i would have streaks of cochineal coming out through the paint!! so may be worth in investing in some proper paint colour additives xxx

Bathroom paint is designed to withstand steam and heat.
Did you use ordinary emulsion in the bathroom ?
In this case its for a bedroom so no steam issue but you raised a good point.
Would advise using a clear glaze over the top for protection if using normal emulsion in bathroom...or just use bathroom emulsion in 1st place :)

I know you all like a cat pic so here are my babies - Ginger Brian and Woo.
They were rescued from an RSPCA overspill house as they originally came from a house in Liverpool where she had about 50 cats! We got them at about 12 weeks old. They both had broken tails, cat flu and eye infections and Brian has no teeth! The RSPCA didnt want them in the main cattery as they were so infectious. We were told when we took them that as they were so poorly they might not last the week.
Well they are 6 years old this year!

Miss Laid - still makes me giggle every time you post:

"The computer beat me at chess once, but it was no match for me at kick boxing"

Glad I make you smile xx

Its a kind of tribute to a mate, just someone I "knew" via a mystery shopping forum he was a fab joke teller and was a part time stand up comedian he sadly died when skin cancer quickly took hold........

My missus dressed up as a police woman last night and giggled, "You're being charged for being good in bed..."

After 2 minutes she said she was dropping the charge due to lack of evidence.

When paint is stored below 0 the water will freeze leave the oil ( gunky yellow stuff) on top.

When the paint defrosts the chemical reaction between oil and water causes the curdle. If you have a paint paddle.drill and bucket you can try stir it out, usually waste of time.

Have found them on the shelf in b&q, if there are any bubble visable to you dont buy the paint.

I've got the same problem - brought some emulsion in from the garage, it had separated and I tried to stir it before I read "do not stir" on the tin :(

So it's ruined then. Should I bring all my emulsion in from the garage and store it somewhere a bit warmer?
