Afternoon all, been a bit busy trying to sort out the mess I call a house! Hope everyone's ok xx

Off for a whoopsie session now, if I see that blonde piece of work at Asda again she'd better watch out if she tries to get in my way again, not that I'll do anything beyond shooting her evil looks and the odd sarcastic comment, I'm too much of a wuss!! :rotfl:

I know you all like a cat pic so here are my babies - Ginger Brian and Woo.
They were rescued from an RSPCA overspill house as they originally came from a house in Liverpool where she had about 50 cats! We got them at about 12 weeks old. They both had broken tails, cat flu and eye infections and Brian has no teeth! The RSPCA didnt want them in the main cattery as they were so infectious. We were told when we took them that as they were so poorly they might not last the week.
Well they are 6 years old this year!

  • Also, old news to many I expect, but ASDA are still doing cheap specs which simply can't be beaten on price if you have a complex prescription like me (-10 and -11, think bottle tops :rotfl:).

As I've a small face, I can get the kids specs with 1.74 thin lenses for £30 :j:j:j For normal adult glasses they are £70 or two for £100.

I have paid £450 for a pair of specs before as each lens on its own costs £150+. Asda make a loss on these, yet this is the third year running they have continued with their pricing.

Spiraling - I had a big issue with that store many months ago. I was told you couldn't get DTD on two identical items in the same transaction. HO got it sorted though. My argument is that why should we check that the barcode matches. If they want to make sure we buy the right thing then the barcode should be the more prominent bit of information on the SEL, not the description. The fact that the description is the biggest bit would suggest that we should read that, look at shelf, make judgement call and buy the item as described.

Redfraggle - your guide is really good ........... but ........... DTDs are hard enough to come by so are you sure you want to give out that info on a plate to lurkers? It's taken all of us many months to hone our skills and develop rhino hide for being trouted without letting others in on 'trade secrets'. I can just imagine some idiot going to CS saying "but I read it on MSE that all I had to do was make sure the SEL was out of date and I'd get it for free".

Twinks (hope I got the name right) - thank you for the fab hobnob recipe :T

Got a load of whoopsied cream a couple of nights ago. 250ml for 15p. 14 tubs (one refunded as it was opened). Made the butter last night. 1.7kg butter and 1.6litres of buttermilk for the grand sum of £1.95. Thank you again to the OP for that one. Now to find a whoopsied freezer to store it in :o

Am catching up on 25 pages:eek: I daren't miss anything lol! I'm not up to date yet so I hope Happy is behaving himself!:D

Caz I thought that when I was reading it - you can't forget also that quite a few Mr T staff will read it too and the last thing you want is to help them to NOT give the DTD! I like to be as clueless as possible at CS and be surprised and happy about the DTD!

IMO I do check the barcode, because then I know I'm right and they can't disagree. I'm not saying they won't still try it on but I like to have everything on my side in advance.

BTW had 2 great DTD's yesterday, one from a HUGE display bin of the same product , half price SEL almost 1 week out of date! The other (different store) was on one shelf at full price and another shelf with OOD SEL half price.Guess which one I picked up?Shame... I did have to laugh though, SA that went with me to check the SEL said to me "you haven't paid for it have you?" I said yes and her face....from:) to :( was hilarious!!!

I think the moral of the story is , OOD sel's can be found anywhere and actually most of the ones I've found were more obvious than you might think!! You just never know...;)

I heard this too, we had a PTA meeting last week and were discussing events for this year and someone mentioned it, didnt quite believe it, how on earth can anyone do an olympic based community event to join in and support the olympics without using the 5 ring symbol?! Crazy!
