I'm finding that after the change, the forum takes much longer to load. Sometimes it's almost unusable. There's too much junk on the sidebars.

The forum is running really slowly for me since the change. Every other site I visit is fine, but MSE is so sluggish!
    Hi Jay

MSE Joe did some tests ref the forum running slow for me using information that I supplied about my browser and system and apparently it is a security add on that I have that causes the slow loading of the pages.
I had the add on before the forum upgrade and there was no problems and there are no problems with any other site on the internet but after telling me that it was the extra bit on my browser, he has told me the only way to fix it is to remove the extra encryption security that I have but as yet I have not found out how to do that, it seems to be built into the version of ie8 that I am using.

He says that is the answer and has not got back to me again.

That's not the problem here, it's slow on the iPad too. I don't see that it can be our fault if an add on affects MSE but no other site. Oh well, back to work soon so I won't be around to get frustrated y it. :D

  • I'd like to say "Well done!" to the team involved in this site upgrade. It has bought the site up to date and is much easier on the eyes. Things are easier to find and it has even highlighted a few things to me I don't think I had spotted before. Congratulations!

    V. small error, which may have been previously reported: As I am typing in this grey text box, i notice that it has broken out of the forum fixed width section and overlaps into the right hand side border, tucking in behind the "Free MSE Email" and "Latest MSE News" boxes.

the pop ups from the subheaders like cards, loans, shopping etc are opening too quickly, it needs to pause at least two seconds before flashing open imo

Don't agree with that at all I'm afraid.

If I am looking for info, I don't want to be waiting for a window or pop up to open. I just want it open instantly so I can get on with going where I'm going iyswim. 2 seconds waiting for something to open would seem like an eternity in practice even although it sounds quick in theory.

The speed is pretty much right as it is now imo.

It used to be perfectly tuned jo; I suspect they have adjusted it in the last couple of days or so - you checked it today and don't see any difference?
