  • I prefer stretchy, it's great that we have a choice.

Well I`ve gone for "new masthead -- stretchy --- less bright" using a 20" wide screen monitor and it works for me.
The posts are all the way across with about three inches on the right for "white space / adverts / forum info, etc.".

Wouldn`t be surprised that the new look fixed with all that white space either side will soon be filled with ads.

Are the spaces to be used for adverts?? That will be a great shame, and I will no longer visit the site.
The new sizing makes it difficult to read (for me, but I am no longer young!!) Have gone back to original size. I fail to see any advantage to users for the new size, you have to scroll down for ages to see more posts and it is quite distracting to read. It seems that most on here that use to site feel the same--please listen to us.

  • Hi churchrat,

No, the spare space is not going to be used for advertisements. See here (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/moneysavingexpert-finance) for details.

  • Having had a quick run through I must say that the new look is cleaner and more professional.

On the other hand, only using about 40% of the screen seems bizzare. If I were to have the screen view enlarged - for better visibility/lost reading glasses/disability problems -then I would be seriously put off, but then I could use the old "stretchy" format. If I were to use that then I would be worried about being left behind, betamax v video/analogue v digital. I certainly wouldn't want to be left behind on the internet.

It seems that the "everyone has full access to everything so let's make everything all spuffy and bright" message has pervaded the MSE offices too, despite frequent postings to the opposite on many threads.

Please remember that a great number of your readers, fortunately not me, do not have new computers, access to IT advice, good internet access or good broadband speeds. I'm not suggesting that everything is done to the LCD but please don't leave people behind.
If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!! :D

I've stuck with it, but as I said in my previous post, having so much white in view is terrible on my eyes. I have a health problem which is affected by the light. It's still far too bright for me so I've just tried to opt for the stretchy

I've been to my "User CP", then to "Edit Options" - BUT - there's then no "Miscellaneous Options" to be found????

I'd really appreciate some help please? Thanks.

It's the very last section and is under date & Time options.

What options can you see under edit Options?

I don't see a huge problem with it; Facebook is similar.

Hopefully that extra space wont be used to whack in a load of dodgy ads
