Lots of little activity to keep you both on your toes Lyn. Just what retirement needs! :D

I'm afraid that youngest DD school issues have come back. Cut a not so long story even shorter I've nipped it in the bud. DD, with visual stress disorder and poor visual discrimination abilities no longer sits at the back of the classroom while being reprimanded for poor written presentation, late finishing and difficulty concentrating. Give me strength... again!

The day has ran away with me today. I don't actually remember doing anything productive.
  • We took Zebra on the Watercress Line Steam Railway this morning e Ruthie took Oreo to visit a couple of friends, it really was a pleasure to have the boy out, he behaved like a little star, no fuss, please and thank you to everyone and even helped me eat my lunch at the garden centre, I'm a proud Oma!

We've just got the rain here and it's smelling wonderful outside, He Who Knows has just gone to pick raspberries on the allotment and got a little damp but the temperature is cooler, the air is less dry and the boy is asleep in his bed upstairs (dropped off in the car 5 minutes from home!). Mum and baby brother will be back in half an hour or so and I've just made us a cupper, He Who Knows might have had cake too, I've had worse days!!!

Great to hear from you Pollyanna. I'll be storming heaven's gate for the next few days. For you as well as your DD1.

Lyn. You sound so happy. What a lovely time you are having and obviously making the most of it. They grow so quickly don't they?

We are in complete chaos here. DS2 and DIL are moving into their new rented home on Saturday. Up until yesterday I had seen no signs of packing up happening, however when I got back yesterday there were a couple of boxes in the kitchen and some pictures have been taken off the walls.
This evening I tackled DS2 and offered to help. Honestly I have never met anyone who is so laid back. He doesn't know what all the fuss is about. They are only moving up the road and as long as they get the essentials up there on Saturday they can fetch the other stuff over the next week or so.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We're off to look at some planes at the aviation museum some time today. the bigger imp is plane mad so that seems a good thing to do on a damp day. Lunch out somewhere as yet undecided and tonight a Giants Picnic for tea with the picnic rug spread in the lounge and every item of food for consumption has to be able to be eating in a single bite! Oma is being inventive! baby sausages, 1/4 of sandwich 1/4s, little gem biscuits, tiny cakes in sweetie cases, baby tomatoes, little seedless grapes the list goes on! much fun will be had!

    Hello all,

Sorry that I have been a bit MIA the last couple of weeks, life has been a tad up and down.

The up is that so far I have lost 5lbs in weight over the last couple of weeks, not the crashing loss that I had last year on the BSD but hopefully more sustainable long term. Following good advice I have cut out a lot of carbs and instead have filled up on veg & salad with quality protein.
This, together with increased activity with Pilates etc seems to be working :)
The down, well that just about sums it up, I have just felt really quite down and it's getting worse. I think that I need to visit the doc for some help as worried am sliding into depression, something similar happened after I lost my darling brother a few years back and I did take anti-depressants for a while then, just to get me back on track. Capt S has been honest and says he is worried so an appointment has been made for next week. I was offered and accepted some counselling from the hospice after Mum died but despite chasing that has not been forthcoming so am hoping the doc can refer me?
It sort of come to a head yesterday when I received an email from the lady who owns the horse to say he had just been sold! I politely asked why when she only said a couple of weeks ago that he still needed a couple of months training, she replied to say that his new home can continue that instead. I am gutted as you can imagine and whilst I know that she has a business to run just wish she hadn't kept my hopes alive :( So, time to re-think and start to looking elsewhere.

Lainey I'm so sorry to read this .
Firstly as you have felt the feeling before after losing your DB , you are wise to recognise that now is the time to see the doctor to discuss how you feel and hopefully be able to access the promised counselling too .
In general now the waiting lists are long but I reckon you've waited long enough .
As for the dream of the horse also she is entitled to sell , it's very unfair to let you build your hopes .
I'm sure at some point the dream will be fulfilled , get yourself well and send the dream out to the universe and we'll see .
Meanwhile all I can offer is a warm , gentle hug and my trusty lavender candle .
    Much love

  • I'm off to Nell for the weekend, we've tickets to see Madame Butterfly this evening so I have to be there to get a 4.30 train out to where the opera is being performed. Ruthie will drop me at a station on her way home so I'll only have a half hour train journey to get up to Nell. We've had such a fun week with Ru and the boys and enjoyed every minute of it, Opa is looking forwards to a bit of peace now and will have a nice quiet weekend here on his own! I'll catch up over the weekend if I'm able but if not see you all again on Monday! xxx.

    Have fun Lynn xx
  • We're just back to Nells house after a wonderful performance last evening, the hotel was super comfortable and very quiet so we both slept very well and have enjoyed a day of retail therapy in a much bigger city than I'm used to. We did very well too and found some real bargains in the sales, Nell got 2 x dresses, 1 fab swimsuit and 2 pairs of summer shoes and I got a lovely padded gilet for the autumn at half price. We had brunch in 'Giraffe', an afternoon cuppa in Waterstones and have bought a cooked chicken and some lovely salad for supper tonight and lunch tomorrow. Pushycat was VERY pleased to see us back and we've had a lovely cup of tea so all's right with our world and we're relaxed and just a bit sleepy, Happy July xxx.
