  • Congrats of the highest order CHEAPY especially after the difficult time you've been through a 2.1 degree is estimable, hats off to you!!! xxx.
  • Good evening all,

Well we have had another scorcher today, and I hope we are going to have the rain promised during the night. I think we need something to break this humidity.

We went out to lunch with my 2 sisters and BILs for a carvery. The meal was nice but it was very warm in the restaurant, and when I arrived home I had a bit of a turn. I am not eating very much in this warm weather and I think my blood sugar dropped really low. Being diabetic I am supposed to eat regular meals, but it is difficult when you don't feel like eating.

Anyway I had a fizzy drink which wasn't diet, had a lovely sleep in the chair and I am fine now. I think perhaps I hadn't drunk enough fluids either.

Fuds you sound so positive about everything now, and I am pleased you have Mum and Dad on the wall showing happy times. It took my sister quite a long time to put Dad's photo up after he died.

Lainey how is the sensible eating coming along, or are you like me and find it difficult to eat in this weather?

Lyn you should sleep a little easier tonight knowing Orley is good These little ones are so resilient aren't they?

Polly wishing your DD a good recovery after her op, and hope it goes part way to easing her pain, which in turn will ease your heartache hopefully

I have just had a cool shower, in my PJs and will be ready for bed at 10

    Sleep tight all

    Much love

    Candlelightx

Am very glad to hear that all went well with little Orley's operation Lyn will be hoping for a swift recovery.
Sorry to hear about your funny turn Candlelight perhaps due to combination of the heat and low blood sugar? My healthy eating plan is going well, like you I struggle to fancy anything in this heat so have mostly been eating salads etc. Capt S suggested we went out to eat tonight to avoid the oven going on, we found a smashing pub with a beer garden so we could eat outside. I chose pork kebab which came with pitta bread, salad and tzatziki. When it came there was roasted peppers and aubergine as well so I didn't touch the bread, just ate the meat and veg etc which was delicious. My beloved had profiteroles for dessert but I just had a coffee. Guess it's all about making the best choices.
Slightly cooler here but still warm, have just finished watering all the pots and planters, the grass is looking parched and dry, really hope we get that rain.
Thinking of you and DD Polly dear, what a rotten time you have both had, will be lighting a healing candle for you both xx
Love to all, nighty night x

Just popped back in and read your posts Lyn. So glad everything went well. Goodness! Don't they bounce back quickly at that age?

It's all steam ahead now for your little family then. Lovely!

  • Morning playmates, thank goodness it's so much cooler here today, it was beautiful to wake up and look forward to hot tea because I wasn't hot already!!! we're overcast and with a slight breeze which is just LOVELY!!!

Talked to Ruthie last night and at 8.30 pm Orley had managed to eat 3 meals in 6 hours, had much milk and was laying on the floor playing. Zebra came home from nursery took one look at the baby and said 'He hasn't got a hole in any more.....I'm hungry Mamma, where's my supper' and that was the extent of comment on the changes, 3 is wonderfully accepting isn't it? I haven't heard from them yet today to see what kind of a night they had and if they're still dozing I'll leave them to it.

Have to shop today, we've been living 'off the land' so as to speak and out of the freezer and cupboards as it's just been too hot to contemplate going into town for the supermarkets but today my fridge belongs to 'Old mother Hubbard' and contains very little sustenance which must be redressed. I will go to the supermarket and He Who Knows will come to get me, I've tweaked something in one of my hips and it's difficult carrying heavy bags of shopping at the moment, I'm walking OK but carrying puts pressure on that side and then I know about it. I'll update on Orley when I've heard from Ru!
  • Just had a message from Ruthie, the little man seems to be back to normal today, smiling, eating and 'chatting' to mum and perfectly over the anaesthetic and operation of yesterday. He slept well last night and woke up sunny, that's the best news I could have got today!

Like it never happened Lyn. Does little man have to heal or is the procedure quite magic?

A busy day for me. It started with cleaning our fixed caravan. She's well and ready to go again.

I then set to on finishing staining all old and new woodwork. It's all matched up as one now.

Then we set about papering the cupboard wall in the living room. When I chose plaid I wasn't thinking about straight lines and wonky walls but we got there. I've had a wobble. It's actually a bit too plain (I know!) For what I wanted but it's nice and homely and I've already got over it.

Finally I used the remaining wallpaper to recover a lamp shade. That, I love. :D

All that is left to do is repaint the living room, stairs and little landing then I can get the carpet.

You know what carpet means? The house is finished! :D (except the bathroom but we're living with that for the foreseeable)
  • Well done small one, I trust there is a small bottle of bubbly involved in the celebration that will follow the carpet being laid? I told you things were meant to be didn't I.....now do you believe me? xxx.

Yes, but we must drink in the kitchen in case we spill on the carpet! :D

I don't know how I got here but here is where I belong. If I made my own decisions I would not have chosen this but this is what I have and it feels right and very much appreciated. I believe you! . I like your signature Lyn. Very true. :) x
  • We've just got back from a lovely day at the arboretum with DD2 et. al. Zebra walked so far I'm proud of him and he also gave his Opa one of his best party ring biscuits after lunch completely unprompted bless him. Lots of sculptures in the grounds which Zebra loved, we had to go looking for the next one every time we found , fab!

They are visiting one of Ruthies school friends and her small ones as she's visiting her mum a few doors away from us and we're having a nice calm cuppa, bliss! xxx.
