HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAINEY. :bdaycake:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0

I flagged it up to Ruthie FUDS and she said I was absolutely fine and if I could lower it that would be OK but if not (you make cholesterol in your own body!) I'd be absolutely fine too! It's one of those computer programmes that looks at age, height, weight, cholesterol etc. and does a prediction on the risk of you popping your clogs with a stroke or heart attack over the next 10 years apparently, there's no point in being worried about the small percentage of it happening that it rolled out for me at my current weight etc. I WILL get under BMI 25, I will follow all the guidelines on cholesterol reduction as long as it doesn't interfere with the weight loss and I will exercise more when the weather warms up, I walk Cooks for a minimum of an hour every day anyway (150 minutes a week recommended ) and often add another almost 4 miles when I walk to the centre so I'm not worried.
Love that DH is using your dads tools pet, there's a rightness to that and so pleased that mum and dads house is now not a yoke on your shoulders, this is how life should be for you and you have SNOWDROPS!!! how brilliant is that? Well done on starting the process of adjusting your diet, He Who Knows didn't notice when I started tweaking things either, just said the food was tastier than normal and enjoyed it! xxx.0 -
Morning everyone,
Happy birthday Lainey! Hope you had a fabulous lunch. :-)
Did the first long bike ride in forever on Saturday and I'm now in pieces - much work to do before April! I was out for about 6 hours and now have THE most ridiculous tan lines which stop at my wrists as I was wearing gloves. I'm sure it will give everyone at work a good giggle.
DH had his first match of the season to referee so we were both out on Saturday. Sunday was catching up with jobs in the house and soaking my poor legs in the bath.
MLW many congrats on the weightloss!!!!!
Candlelight I hope Himself finds the reasons for the cramp - it's so horrible.
Much love to you all

Lainey, a bit late in the day but I hope you enjoyed every minute of your birthday. It sounds as though you were going to be rightly and deservedly spoiled.
Fuddle, I am green with envy over your snowdrops.
All this talk about snowdrops makes me cringe. When I had the cottage a friend gave me 500 snowdrops in the green for Christmas. It was a labour of love getting them planted and no one who called in was given a coffe or a biscuit until they had planted at least 10. The next year I waited eagerly for the drifts of white. Eventually ONE brave little soldier raised its head.
It obviously didn't like what it saw because it never reappeared.
However, every year the whole garden was smothered in primroses and in May the paddock was a sea of wild orchids, so I didn't lose out too much.

Fuddle - as soon as I can work out how to post photos (and the monsoon has stopped to allow me to take them) I will let you see what life there is in my garden. Over the years I bought many snowdrop bulbs and none came to anything. Two years ago I was given 2 small clumps of snowdrops just after flowering. One from a dear friend and the other from my husbands dear uncle. Sadly, neither person is with us now but this year the clumps of snowdrops have flowered and seem resolute and sturdy. It's bittersweet that I can't let them know that at last I have snowdrops but I think of them both when I look out on them. To me, they are the first sign of Spring and the hope that brings.
MrsLW - good news on the BMi front. A very concerted effort from you and a great result.
Lainey - a bit late but hope you had a nice birthday.
Hope all our other friends are well. Am off to catch a bit of Jungle Book on tv now but I'm not sure how I will like it as I loved the original animated version.0 -
Morning all I seem to have taken Candlelight's place as the one that didn't sleep . I hope that means you did Candlelight . I've lost count of how many times I've turned the light off and put my head down and then the sinuses have kicked of and it's too painful to lie down . I assume this is stage whatever of the post viral .
The weather was foul yesterday . I was convinced Doris had come back . It wasn't until I plugged the tv in to watch the Countryfile forecast before Call the Midwife I heard of Ewan .
Lainey I hoped the sun kept shining for you .
I love reading of what I think of as precious memory plants and bulbs , they always bring a smile and a tear at the same time and keep those we love with us .
Much empathy on the hundreds of in the green snowdrops Monna it is the best way to start them off but unlike you I never thought of sharing the work with visitors prior to any hospitality . Must remember that , I admire your style .
Keep going Hoglet it will all be worth it in the end .
Have a good day all . I'm sitting in bed listening for the rattle of the milk bottles so I can bring the milk in and see if I can catch a couple of hours sleep . I'll take my antihistamine for today and that may do the trick .

Hello all, thanks very much for your kind birthday wishes
The lunch out was absolutely delicious, so much so that I couldn't eat again for the rest of the day but very much worth it. I had a lovely day all round and was suitably spoilt by Capt S, am blessed indeed.
The celebrations continue tonight with a meal out with DB, just the two of us, I have an inkling that he needs a chat with his sister as seems to be struggling at the moment, guess it's harder as a man to let the natural tears of grief flow when needed?
Hope your tablet kicked in and you are feeling a bit better Polly, whenever I get a cold it goes straight to my sinuses and boy can they get painful, would the old trick of Vick in hot water and towel over head work at all, that sometimes relieves mine?
Yay to Lyn on your fantastic weight loss my friend, you must feel so good about yourself x
SM, loved the story of your bequeathed snowdrops, it's lovely to have such a physical reminder of your loved ones isn't it, years ago DM gave me a root bunch of the Crocosmia that she in turn had taken from my Grandads garden, they are still going strong and are much loved.
Hope everyone else is well and embracing the start of the week, they roll round quickly don't they!
Love to all x0 -
Good for you Lyn you must be feeling great added bonus is not having to buy new . Well done Nell for being your personal wardrobe mistress .
Thanks for the good wishes Lainey , so glad you enjoyed your special day , I wonder how many of us have heirloom plants .
I'm not embracing the new week yet . I can say quite honestly I have not slept or even nodded off for a moment since I got up yesterday morning . The whole house has the aroma of olbas oil , I was hanging over a steaming bowl of the stuff in the middle of the night . I just can't believe the length of time it takes to finally say goodbye to the evil bug . I'm beginning to wonder if it's everlasting .
It's bitterly cold here and set to get colder so maybe that will see off the germs finally and set us free . Wednesday is the first day of both March and Spring so here's hoping will all be hopping around like spring bunnies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope all are well
much love polly x
I have to stay awake until bedtime as I don't want knock my body clock awry . I've trained it for early starts .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
