  • Great news Fuddle. You are on the countdown now!

Sorry I've been mia- the central heating hasn't worked properly for the last week. We've had two full days of engineer visits and they are due back on Thursday. I'm so frustrated, the boiler is only 4 years old and they have replaced pumps and valves this week already. They just shrug and say "oh well, that didn't work we'll have to try something else". I don't sense any sense of urgency or concern that they don't know what's wrong - too easy when they are racking up huge bills for someone else.

Ouch scottishminnie I hope your boiler is resolved and sharpish. Faffing workmen annoy me. We really are at their mercy and living in rented I have seen how some of them mess about because the Landlord is paying oblivious to what they're doing. I, however, am the all seeing eye. Faffing workmen don't get tea and biscuits in my house. ;)

We have a starting bid on mam's house. It's not secure as the bidder can't officially commit as the house isn't ready to be bid on as we're in the process of getting the legal pack together but if he's still interested in a few weeks time we might just have a committed bid that says the house would go at a price that is low, but wholly acceptable to me. Of course sister isn't happy it's low and wants me to get answers to her questions about it but I have said she needs to go seek her own answers. I've told her I deal in fact, not what if and that is all that I will allow in my head.

The fact is there's a bid, there's interest and there's hope. Another nights sleep for me then. :)

I have put the paperwork in for youngest to move to the new local small school. I don't hold out much hope but she wanted me to do it. I am hopeful but not stressing because I have decided that if she has to continue as is, I'm going to get another little micra as a run around. I would be a fool to commit to that walk twice a day.

So as you can see I have a lot on, but it's controlled and I'm working hard to not let it get on top of me. Funny thing with stress is that I live with it as the norm but as I try to take a mindful step back I realise how much energy it takes to react and worry.

Now if only someone could help me stay cool around bickering preteens, that would be the icing on the cake! :rotfl:
  • Pleased for you getting a tentative bid on Mums house M'Dear lets hope it's still there as a bid when all is settled and I think you're being very realistic is settling for a 'known' lesser amount rather than waiting for the bonanza price which may never materialise.

Bickering pre-teens is just a phase, it will pass, what replaces it might be as bad but this phase WILL go!!!

.My monthly cooking marathon took place today so am catching up with all the news. Fuddle, that all sounds very encouraging. Even if nothing comes of the offer it proves that the house is eminently saleable, which is comforting. You are being very realistic regarding the price. To have unduly high expectations usually results in disappointment. You are nearly there.
I had to laugh about the warring preteens. Don't worry sweetie, there is worse to come. Have you had the screams of, SHE LOOKED AT ME, yet. That always got to me.

Sorry about the boiler scottishminnie. It would have to happen in the middle of winter, wouldnt it?

That's as far back as I have read. Perhaps I'll do better tomorrow.

I fit into DD1s cast off size 14 skirts!!!!! I have broken the back of the weight loss and am now losing slowly again and am going to try to get down to the size 12 I was many years ago. It will hopefully mean a much more active and healthy older age. It feels really good too!

Polly sorry to hear about the dodgy landline. Is it BT? I've been slurped into the never ending different engineer to look at each different wire (ok, I'm exaggerating) before and know how much a long, frustrating process it is. I think it's the lack of communication that is bothersome for me.

Monna I have had 'stop looking at me!' and 'she walked past me' and 'she put it on my bed' and 'she touched my gloves!' I'll hold my hands up to being extremely worried for my sanity now I have signed the contracts to commit myself to a life of teenager sharing a bedroom.

Yes, I've signed. :D The solicitor is going to try for Wednesday next week but realistically I'm still focussing on Friday.

Lyn! Size 14!! I don't own any size 14's. You are inspiring me to try and I really will when I'm settled. Go you, it's not easy but you sound like you have your mind set in the right place. It's half the battle isn't it?
  • RED LETTER DAY all round my dear!!! When I first knew you some years ago I knew nothing of you other than you came across as a real little trier in all things. You had my respect from the first post of yours I came across and in the years since then my respect and admiration for who and what you are and have made of yourself has grown and grown. This day, this wonderful positive day when you have actually signed the contract on your OWN home you have earned my friend, you have taken life by the neck in the face of everything it has thrown in your path and you have made it back away and forged your own way and made your future secure. Not many people can say they have done that and we are ALL so extremely proud of our Fuddle, go you girlie your world is now on a level platform and the odds are stacked for you because of your sense and 'won't be beaten' outlook. Take this new life and make it good and just as you want it, because you can!!! xxx.

That is fabulous news Fuddle, not long now :)

Sorry to hear about your boiler problem SM, really hope that it's all sorted now and you are comfy & cosy in the warm.

Woohoo on the size 14s Lyn, you must be feeling fab about yourself :)

Hoping that Candlelight, Hoglet and others are all ok.

Have to admit to feeling very blue over the last few days, the time before the funeral seems to be dragging despite having so much to do with organisation and clearance of DM's home. It's all getting a bit too much at the moment, am not sleeping so well and just feeling very run down. I know the last few months have to catch up with me at some point so guess it's only natural to feel like this, am just so very sad and missing my Mum like crazy, likewise my lovely Bill :(

Sending you gentle (((HUGS))) Lainey - the time before a funeral is so difficult, and having lost your beloved Bill as well makes it even worse :( but you will get through it, honestly. Just take it a day at a time, or an hour at a time, or even a few minutes at a time if necessary xx

fuddle So happy to hear your news! And although this is a tricky time with your girls, (I remember it all too well, especially as one was tidy and one not, and they too shared a bedroom) they will likely get on fine when they are older. Mine do at any rate :)

Lyn Well done on the weight loss! I'm hoping you'll inspire me as well, I could certainly do with it :o:D
