  • We seem to have very many blackbirds around at the moment, one has just hopped into the hawthorn hedge at the front of the lawn, the colder weather must be making them prepared to risk being closer to human habitation for food. Most of the wild berries, though there are still lots of ivy berries available, seem to have been taken and I think birds are beginning to feel the lack of food. I'll make sure to feed in the back garden every day, poor little things.

Jolly chilly here again today so I'm glad I have some nice warm jumpers now to keep me cosy. Off at 10 to a Sea Scouts Jumble Sale in the village hall, we made a box of donations to them last night but I've shed so much over the years I really had very little to give, still no matter how little it will help swell their funds if they can sell it to someone else won't it?

Nice home made lentil soup for lunch today and I'm making some more Scandinavian salmon burgers for supper, we enjoyed them so much last time I think with salmon being so reasonably priced they will feature often on the menu from now on!

LAINEY thinking of you and yours lovey, wish you peace.

FUDS thinking of you and yours too, exciting times but hectic pet, no?

CANDLELIGHT and POLLY hope that you and the poorlies in your lives are feeling much better now, roll on some slightly warmer weather which will let us get outside in the fresh air eh? Lyn xxx.

Lyn I hope your trip to the jumble sale was fruitful . As you know the blackbirds here are like a meeting of the league of nations , most of them happily eat some berries , mealworms and suet but not Billy the latest version of the very dysfunctional generations of blackbirds with the distinctive white flash of all his ancestors . It's like having a demanding toddler combined with Kevin the teenager .
He ramps up his demands as winter comes on but instead of eating the food he wants me to go outside and talk to him as he walks at my side . He has been waging a war of words over the last few days for me to go and dig the frozen soil right down to where the worms are snuggled down . Even the wrens and robins who are used to me doing so are happily munching the food provided . It was too cold to indulge him so he's stropping for Britain . We already had a long running stand off over the berries on the biggest holly of them all . He seems to know that the solstice holly was coming off that tree and we eyeballed each other angrily as he shouted at me from the windowsill outside all the way to the solstice . Somedays I think I'm losing the plot , I am stalked throughout the year by a flippin' blackbird .
Much milder here today compared to the previous few days . Very cold but much improved from feeling like Nanook of the North .
Not long now Fuds I can picture you with boxes and the list . Sorry I know the feeling of losing your balance on ice but I did have an image of the loving mam flailing her arms and smacking beloved child in the face . I have a weird sense of humour .
Candlelight wishing you both back to health soon .
    Hope everyone's ok .

Just love and peace of heart Lainey x

Take care all back to the grindstone :D

  • Oh yes it was I got a tricycle for Zebra and Oreo for the garden here when they come to stay for £1, I found a Katherine Holmgard enamel bowl for 50p, I got Zebra a big die cast sports car for 50p and a 'Pixar Cars ' magic scribble board for 50p, a couple of books one each for the boys at 25p each and a metal model of a VW Camper Van for He Who Knows for 50p too. We're testing a Thermos Food Flask I picked up for Nell for £1 to see if it keeps it's heat so a really productive visit for £4.50p, I love jumble sales!!!

    Hello m'dears,

My darling Mum passed away at 8.30 this morning, we were with her at the end and I do believe she knew how very loved she was.
Feel pretty numb at the moment and oh so tired so am going to have a hot bath now and try to catch a few hours sleep.
Words can't express how much I appreciate all the support you have given me over the last few months, holding my hand through such hard times and I just know that you will continue to do so in the tough days to come.
Thank you seems inadequate but it's all I have xx

Sending you a very gentle hug Lainey . Candle will be lit during the times ahead . You have the practicalities to sort before you can begin to grieve for your recent losses . Know you will be in our thoughts as you face the days to come .
    Much love
