Well, some good news my friends.
I didn't say anything this morning, guess I didn't want to jinx it in anyway but Mum went into hospital this morning to have a camera put down her throat to see if there was the possibility of placing a stent in her oesophagus to enable swallowing and am pleased to say there was & it was done immediately :j She has obviously got a sore throat etc but chatting to the dietitian afterwards if she feels up to it she can start re-introducing soft foods from tomorrow, don't say that she will be able to manage all foods again but even just to enjoy scrambled egg would be a bonus. Any improvement on a liquid only diet will mean a greater quality of life!
She is a brave, tenacious lady who refuses to bow down, am so proud to be her daughter x
  • Lainey that is wonderful news, I am so pleased for you all. Hopefully she will be able to build a little strength now. She is one feisty lady isn't she. She isn't ready to leave you yet she must have willpower of iron.

I hope you sleep a little better tonight.

    Many hugs to you

Lainey that's really good to read - there's only so much fortified milkshake anyone can take! You will be able to support your mum with tasty morsels the next time she's with you xx

Popping out of lurkdom again to say that's fantastic news Lainey. Your DM is one strong lady.
  • Lainey such happy news .I hope mum can enjoy some proper food if possible . She really is a toughie . Be proud of yourself and all the family who have pushed forward always mindful and sensitive to her wishes and needs , you have all lovingly gone the extra mile and she is a lucky lady to be surrounded by true love x
Well after a nightmare five months of dd suffering relentless panic and anxiety and a large elephant in the room . We returned home earlier from an appointment to a decision regarding dds transition from dla to pip . She has been granted enhanced daily living and enhanced mobility which are the higher award . No need for a reconsideration or appeal which is more often needed .
I feel as though I could now sleep for a week .:D but have a delivery due anytime from 6am tomorrow so will have an early night with a peaceful mind and get up at stupid o clock in the morning .
I will post tomorrow but need to escort the elephant off the premises and make room for the solstice .
Today I am grateful for a beloved young gp who goes above and beyond all the year round .
For an experienced and sensitive nurse who assessed my daughter here at home and actually saw how difficult her life is .
Most of all I am so grateful to all on this thread , you don't know how sometimes forcing myself to post here has helped me not to retreat into a worried heap as the last few months have dragged on .
Whether sad or happy your posts have shown me things can be worse and other things can be better . You know now and I thank you all for being my friends .
    Candles are lit .
I am grateful I sneaked into the thread looking for news of Lyn , it seems a long time ago now .
Wishing you all a peaceful night , now to let the elephant out .
    Much love

It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • Polly that is good news, 2 pieces of good news in one evening.

You sound to have a really good GP and a lovely nurse, both of whom seem to know and understand exactly what your DD is going through.

I hope you both sleep well tonight

    God bless

So pleased that life is looking up for you and your DD Pollyanna. Just in time for you to have a much more relaxed Christmas too.
We all try to be brave when in these dark times of life but sometimes the light at the end of our particular tunnel just disappears. You have weathered the storm Polly and deserve to bask in the sunlight for a while.

As for the folks on the forum, that is what we are here for and you, my sweet, have done your share of supporting and nurturing when we have needed it.
That's what it's all about isn't it? Loving and caring for each other, sharing worries and sadnesses and offering as much help and understanding as we can muster.
And now we can all share in your joy and relief.

    Sometimes it's a wonderful world isn't it?

  • My goodness what a lovely way to start the day reading such an abundance of good things happening to and for folks I care about! POLLY my love that is positively the best thing that could have happened, thank goodness you are in the hands of such dedicated, compassionate and capable folks and have them at your back in the future, sleep easy now petal and catch up on your lives.

LAINEY your Mum is an amazing lady, what a little terrier she is fighting so hard to have as much time as she can with her beloved family, thank goodness for the hospital and nursing staff who CAN perform small miracles and make her life better and by doing so all of yours as well. Scrambled egg.....food of the gods!!!

Nell took Zebra to the theatre yesterday and after a little conservatism from him which was only natural because it was a totally new experience he LOVED every second of it. It was sympathetically staged for the small folks and the play was performed in the middle of a large room with chairs round the walls for parents and soft mats on the floor for small folks to sit on. After 5 minutes he was yelling at the Trolls with everyone else and just loved the Bear, magic! He was sooooo happy to be on a train and lunch with Aunty Anna was a great success with her teaching him how to catch 3 pieces of penne on his fork at the same time. She and Zebra are now firm friends and I hope she will be a regular playmate in the future, they got on extremely well.

Not too much on today except a little ironing and a pop to the village shop for a couple of bits and pieces. He Who Knows is going with my brother to pick up and then put up a couple of fence panels this morning, they apparently became rickety in the last big blow we had and then the day is ours which is an indulgence and will be much enjoyed.

Have yourselves a lovely day everyone and give those you love a hug just because you can Lyn xxx.

Ah Polly dear, what a good day yesterday was :) so pleased to read your news this morning, what a huge weight off both of your minds, there ARE good people in the system who believe in treating others with the respect they deserve and give them the appropriate support.

Thank you all for your good wishes for Mum, she texted around 8.30 last night to say was going back to bed as so tired and sore, fingers crossed she feels a bit better this morning.
It feels like we have all been holding our breath over the last week since a consultant said it could be a possibility, now its full steam ahead for a family xmas and so today will be a catch up, wrapping presents etc and sorting through.

Aw Lyn, sounds like Zebra had a fab time at the theatre and now has a new friend in Auntie Anna, his penne pasta skills will hold him in good stead :)
You are so right Lyn, DM does have a terrier like attitude to life and is holding on tightly to squeeze out every moment of precious family time.

Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday, much love to you all x
