  • I've just sat in the garden in the sun and had that cup of coffee outside that I've been longing to do and it was brilliant!!! What a super day it is out there. I'm really looking forward to walking Cookie this afternoon, the birds on the paths and lanes were very active yesterday but today they'll be singing their little hearts out!
  • Lyn, it is beautiful here as well. No 2 days are ever the same are they?

Himself is having his siesta at the moment, so I can't do too much without making a noise. I had a few things to do in town this morning, so he drove us in, and then I deposited him in M&S coffee shop whilst I whipped round doing the shopping.

I managed to find 2 nice lampshades for the hall and landing without spending a fortune, in Wilkos and bought some paint for a little project I have in mind. I have a small pine unit in the kitchen which looks a little out of place, but is very useful. I am going to paint it the same colour as the kitchen units, which are a pale cream. When he wakes up I will finish preparing it for painting and take the knobs off the 2 drawers.

We haven't anything planned for the weekend, except I must go to the SM tomorrow morning for fresh fruit and veg and milk. I was wondering about what meat to have, but we so enjoyed the beef last weekend that I think I might buy more.

Although I am buying lots more fruit and veg since being on the 8 week blood sugar diet I am actually saving money because I am not buying the other rubbish and carbs we have been eating. I need to buy potatoes and rolls for DGD1, but she doesn't eat enormous meals and never has a dessert. I freeze the bread and rolls and take it out the night before, ready for her to take to work. Potatoes now seem to last forever.

AOT are you OK and looking after yourself?

Lyn enjoy your walk and best wishes for a speedy recovery to He Who Knows

Have a good weekend and let us hope this beautiful weather lasts

    Much love to you all

  • Woohoo my washing dried outside today!!! He Who Knows had cardiology appointment at the hospital this afternoon as his last ECG at the GP surgery was 'odd' and the cardiology consultant he saw today said it looked like they'd placed the electrodes the wrong way round which gave a very odd reading, all is OK on his ECG today but they're sending him for a CT scan and doing a couple more ECGs to make sure then a drug review at the end of it. I think it's a good service and have confidence that he'll be given the right advice and medication at the end of this, even if that is leaving things unchanged from now.

Cookie walk this afternoon was smashing, warm sun, so much birdsong, so many birds around and banks of wildflowers in the sun, just perfect. We also bumped into my pal Rupert for the third day running, we don't see him for a couple of months then we bump into him three days consecutively. Rupert is very special, he's a donkey sized golden labradoodle, a 10 year old puppy (he doesn't see any more need to grow up than I do) and has survived three very serious health problems in the past year or so, you'd never know to see him bounce, I adore him and it's such a pleasure to see him enjoying his life as much as he does. His Mumi and Dadi are very good parents and do the very best for him because they adore him too!!!

I've just laid up and lit the woodstove, it's been a golden day but is chilling appreciably now, it is only March after all, supper is set to go in the oven in a while, we've chatted to Nell between the end of the school day and her dashing off to yet another school function, this time she's been asked to take the photographs because parents like what she does and comment on them to the head and tomorrow she has open morning and a fund raising event for the Borneo trip in the late afternoon and evening so she'll be out all day, I don't know where she gets her reserves of energy from, she's amazing!

Stay warm pals, and I hope tomorrow gives us the warmth and sun we had today, Lyn xxx.

Another one here Lyn who has enjoyed a sunny day :)

Drove into horsey town first thing to Mr W, picked up loads of lovely fruit and veg, plus some reduced bargains for the freezer but was home by 10. Whizzed round with the Hoover, got the washing on the line and then went into Cambridge for a haircut, love love having my hair done and it's something that I don't mind paying out for. My hair is so thick it tends to grow out, not down and have tried to cut it myself with disastrous results so now leave to my lovely hairdresser Simon. I get to read the glossy mags that wouldn't dream of buying as well :rotfl:

This afternoon went over the yard and spent a glorious couple of hours in the sun with my pal Bil, he was full of beans so think he's loving the warmer weather too, stood around chatting for a while and realised had actually got quite cold. Now cosy at home, candles are light and pizza in the oven. Might have a sneaky little beer as well, oh and GB choc was in special offer in Waitr@se, it would have been rude not too.

Hope the furniture restoration goes well Candlelight and poorly other halves feel better soon.

Another one wishing for another nice day tomorrow, take care lovelies xx
  • You sound to have had a lovely day Lainey, and now a cosy evening.

It has turned cold now but I don't mind because it has been a glorious day, and don't we feel better for it?

  • Morning, another lovely spring day here but we have a little brusque breeze blowing which is taking the edge off the temperature so not a day for lingering outside doing nothing, lovely if you keep moving. He Who Knows has headed allotmentwards and I've gone through the house, unloaded the dishwasher, sorted out some mince for under a shepherds pie and decided that as I fancied it I'm making the Vegetable Mince for lunch that is in the Victory Cookbook. A Cookie walk this afternoon and a game of Rugby to watch too with a cuppa when I get back, smashing stuff. Hope you're all having a nice Sunday too and that you all have some of this benign weather, it's been cold a long time hasn't it?
  • It is lovely here as well Lyn, but as you say a little cool.

I have stripped our bed and washed the linen, the bed is waiting to be remade later. DGD1 has done her washing as well, so it is all outside.

We are having beef cooked in the slow cooker with cauliflower cheese, carrots, green beans and broccoli and DGD will have little new potatoes and a yorkie with hers. We will have this about 1 p.m. so in the meantime I am in and out of the kitchen and catching a bit of Bleak house which is on TV at the moment.

Tomorrow I hope to visit the Hospice Shop with a few more bits, and want to pop and see DD one day this week.

Tuesday I am having lunch with my old boss and some of the girls. We haven't seen him for a while because he doesn't join us at Wetherspoons. Last time we saw him he didn't look very well at all, so I hope he has improved since then.

My sister and BIL are hoping to see us one day this week, not sure when.

DGD will be 23 on the 21st of this month, and she and her BF are off to York for the weekend on Friday. I am really envious because I love York and we were telling her about Russells restaurant in Coppergate, and how they used to display the enormous joints of meat in the window. I don't know whether they do that now because it is a good few years since we were there, but Himself has given them some money to treat themselves.

Enjoy the rest of your day

    Much love

Beautiful day and so far have made the most of it.

Out in the garden this morning with a general tidy up and check to see everything is coming through ok, forsythia will be out soon and can't wait for its cheery yellow flowers. Both the potted Rosemary plants are in blue bloom so what with those, along with my daffs and primroses, my garden does have some colour at least.
Even gave my little soft-top car a wash and polish, it was a 40th birthday present from my ex ( suspect it was his mid-life crisi moment ) over the years have thought about selling it as use my big old car for the yard etc but whenever spring rolls round am glad I didn't.
Am now relaxing on the sofa after a big plate of beef stew and veg, kept it lighter with no pots or dumplings but with 5 portions of veg so feel full, but healthy :)
Will pop over to the yard later but doubt will ride, Bill was a bit sore yesterday after spending all day in his box so want him to get the most of today's sunshine, have been assured he will be out all day today.

Ooh Candlelight, haven't been to York for years but like you do love it, especially the shambles and the Minster, gorgeous.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovelies and take care xx

    Hi everyone,

Lovely to catch up on all your news.

For once I had quite a chilled out, quiet weekend - the weather was absolutely beautiful although the early mornings are noticeably colder now. Had a pot luck dinner out at my cousin's on Sat, just with 3 of us. Was lovely to catch up as a small group as you can chat so much more. Potluck always ends up with heaps of food too, far better than going out! DH was refereeing - season has just started so I'll be getting lots of Saturdays to myself again for the next few months. I quite like it, I've got heaps of stuff to do, and he's always ina better mood when he's had a productive day.

Sunday we had a very chilled out day, got lots of my book read. I'd requested the library to buy a few ebooks that's I'd wanted and they bought them all at the same time so I've now got heaps to get through, in a short space of time! Such a brilliant service though. The new washing machine is fab in that it can take all the bed linen in one go so we don't have loads of washes being done all the time, (Sunday is bedding day) and it also has a really quick 15 min funciton so I can fling my cycling kit in without feeling guilty. Got out on the bike for 20 miles yesterday - still not making up the conditioning I lost with those 3 weeks off but I'm sure it won't take too long to get back.

Right, sorry must dash onto some work,

    much love

Evening all . Finally catching up on everyone's news. Seems like we are all busy but certainly enjoying some much needed dry and sunny weather.

Just seen the countryfile forecast and it doesn't look too bad for the week which is great.

I've just been busy, busy at work and at home but nothing much to report. Cleaned out the greenhouse a bit yesterday but couldn't source Jeyes fluid anywhere. Was informed in a certain DIY store that it's now a banned substance and I won't be able to get in anywhere. I guess that means it was effective if it has been banned - seems to be how to works:( so I bought cheap disinfectant instead and will get it done next weekend.
I have my first daffs in the garden:). Just a couple of the tiny little ones but they are so cheerful it made me smile.

I had a slight mishap last week at work and took a nasty fall. For the first time in more than 30 years I have one very skint knee and another swollen bruised one. The bruising is at the rainbow coloured stage but it makes kneeling impossible so washing floors today has been a challenge! On the positive side though my thick woolly tights survived unscathed although it will be trousers for a few weeks till the scab and bruises go.

The large garden intruders are back:( saw one in the garden on Friday morning and yesterday counted 11 in the field nearby:eek: it's like living in a safari park!

Off to meal plan for the week - still working through the freezer stock:D
