  • Good for you Hoglet, you must be very fit now.

Storm Imogen has passed over us now thank goodness. You know the wind is the one thing that frightens me because it is so unpredictable. We even had some flooding in the city which is very unusual for us.

We have had a lovely day today, lovely blue sky, we had a frost last night but I can cope with that, it is the dark dank days I hate.

Don't think of your winter now, make the most of your lovely summer and start saving for your indoor trainer :):)

    Much love

    Good evening everyone,

Well, am completely shattered. Two full on days of trying to pick up new computer systems, sitting with other departments to understand where they are in the company structure and generally just learn as much as I can, my brain feels like mush at the moment.

That said, the people on the whole seem really friendly, it's a shared building on a big business park with spacious green areas etc, gym facilities and a couple of eateries. Today I did take a walk out at lunchtime to get my bearings and some much needed fresh air, the sun was out and the wind had died down.
Did a quick change and rushed straight over to see Bill, that's what I am missing more than anything at the moment but know I need to get used to my new routine. Tomorrow is my day off so will spend the morning over the stables and then chill out in the afternoon. My DOH is managing to get a lot of the housework done in between doing bits of his own consultancy work so am spoilt in that way, he even had some pancake batter ready for this evening. Had mine with big pile of blueberries so could convince myself was a healthy option..

Sorry about your little tree Lyn but good to hear that on the whole not too much damage from the lovely Imgoen.
Am seriously impressed with your mileage Hoglet, no wonder you are getting so fit.
Candlelight, glad you had a better day weather wise, make such a difference to see the sun.
SM, love the sound of the impromptu firework display

Love to all, take care folks x
  • I have just seen the most amazing thing. I was walking Cookie along one of the lanes and noticed a very well grown Roe Buck standing looking intently at something in one of the fields, as I watched it stamped its front feet and jumped forward and from very close by a big old fox jumped out of the grass and ran hell for leather into the nearest hedgerow. The Buck stood 'on guard' looking after it for a couple of minutes then ambled off into the woodland, fab!!!
  • A very giggly phone call from Nell just a minute ago, she'd been ID'd at the checkout at T*sco when she was buying shopping that included a bottle of beer.....she's 38 later in the year! It took quite a while to convince the checkout lady that she was indeed old enough to buy alcohol.....she doesn't know whether to be aghast or flattered!!! soooooo funny!!!
  • Oh Lyn, tell Nell I think she should be flattered, but I can understand why she thought it was funny.

Well it is a fine but a very cold day here. The sky is blue with some light clouds floating around. All the housework is done, washing up to date except what we took off last night. I have cleaned the bathroom and Himself and Flora are about to have a siesta.

DGD1 has been away for the weekend, so I expect she will be home this afternoon. She normally texts me when she is on the way.

My sister and BIL are coming to see us tomorrow. We haven't seen them for ages because they have been rather poorly with a virus and they didn't want us to catch it, so I am looking forward to that.

We have to go to the hospital some time this week for repeat blood tests, but we haven't decided which day. I have a nail appointment Wednesday morning so it won't be then. It is also Himself's birthday on Wednesday so I don't think it fair for him to have a needle dug into his vein.

It is Grandson's the following day and i have managed to gather everyone together on the Saturday for a carvery. That is no mean feat because these young people have such busy social lives:):) but I am looking forward to us all being together, the first since Christmas.

SM Sara was so pleased with the items you sent the girls, what a lovely family they are, have you seen the latest photos?

Hoglet I hope you and the cats are well and enjoying your lovely weather. When it has been clear during the day the days are really drawing out now, so roll on Spring.

Much love to you all and take care

    Hello everyone,

Oh Lyn, how flattering for Nell, closest I get to that sort of thing is when need my Quick check in Waitr@se needs signing off due to wine etc :rotfl:

Woke up this morning with familiar tight feeling in chest and sure enough cough is now starting to come out, typical really after just three days in an office have picked up some kind of virus but hardly surprising considering how hot the office tends to be. Being an outdoors kind of person who would rather put a jumper on than turn up the heating must admit am finding it hard and have had to re-think what I wear to work. Anyways, have started taking some cold remedies + extra Vit C so hopefully can stop in tracks.
Having a lovely lazy weekend, my DOH only does a few hours a day working from home so has picked up most of the housework, bless his heart, it means we can really enjoy our time when I'm not at work. Gradually adapting our routine for meals etc and have arranged for one of the girls at the yard to take Bill out on Monday/Tuesday just until the evenings are light enough for me to ride after work so all in all not doing badly.

Candlelight - enjoy your time with family and for DH birthday, hope all goes well with blood tests.
SM. - did you figure out what was on your mind the other day?
Hoglet - hope you have managed to get out on your bike.

Have a good week everyone, love to all xx
  • Hi everyone,

MLW - I sympahise with Nell! Happens to me all the time at the tender age of 32 - DH (45) says I should be flattered but it does annoy me. I can't explain why that is, I know I should be flattered, but it's just how I feel! I guess it makes me feel like I'm doing something I shouldn't, or that someone believes I am.

Candlelight - yes the cats are enjoying the hot weather I think - they're out a lot anyway. I love it - the himidity has dropped now. I spotted Alfie lying on next door's steps as if he lived there the other day - I wonder if he's conned them into feeding him - would explain why he's so fat.

Lainey - I got out on the bike twice this weekend - 58 miles in total but am going to have to take my saddle sore to Dr as it's getting worse. I so hope I don't have to have long off the bike but it needs sorting.

Other than that there's not much to report from us - we tried going to the beach yesterday but it was so heaving we turned straight around. Had a drink and a bowl of chips in a newly-refurbished bar on the way home. DH was starting to feel a bit house bound so the change of scenery did him some good. It's something I don't ever feel - give me a book and a comfy chair and I'm happy there all day.

Back to work now for me - :-(

    love Hoglet xx
  • Glad you are ok Hoglet. I saw the footage of the cliffs collapsing after the earthquake - all very frightening.

Candlelight- I only posted the parcel to FTM on Friday afternoon, I can't believe it arrived already:)

MrsLW - I would be thrilled to be challenged about my age - it's a great disappointment that it has never happened to me:D

Lainey - I never did work out what was bothering me. I'm hoping when I do remember I haven't missed something crucial!

I had my parents for dinner - they have just left so I'm having a quick cup of tea before I begin the big clear up.

We had quite the blizzard yesterday so we have a good few inches of snow. It was minus 6 this morning which didn't bode well for much melting. Sure enough it didn't get about freezing and now it's well below so safe to say it's a bit crispy round here. our friends in Boston emailed me earlier today and it was minus 26 so I really don't have much to gripe about.

Busy week ahead at work, in fact I will probably deal with some emails once I've loaded the dishwasher. So much for 9-5!

  • Nell's in Berlin!!! she's doing the usual tour that is for the GCSE year pupils but with some colleagues who wanted to go. She texted last night to say that her hotel which is very conveniently situated is super and that they are getting the full 'Nellie Tours' day today, they'll sleep well tonight! Tomorrow they are due snow (much excitement) and are intending to go to an open air ice skating rink to skate in the snowflakes as there are a couple of early teens with one of the families, todays big excitement is the CHOCOLATE SHOP which has everyone drooling, wish I was there too!!!
  • Hello all,

Lyn it sounds as though Nell will be having a wonderful time with her girls, although very cold. She is a good girl to use her holidays for these educational trips, her students must adore her.

Cold and frosty here this morning but a lovely blue sky again. We dropped DGD1 off at work early this morning, she had a meeting to attend and then we did some shopping. Flora has been lying on the kitchen table soaking up the warmth from the sun, but she has just come to join me.

Lainey you sound to be in a bad way, I do hope you start to feel better soon. As you say bad timing with the new job, but you didn't ask for it, and I am sure rather you didn't have it. Poor Bill will be missing you as well. Take care and look after yourself.

SM if you have time read FTMs blog, she comments on an article in the paper about that poor little nigerian boy who was found wandering barely alive. I had to leave a comment because as I said to her animals look after their young better than humans sometimes.

Hoglet, Flora sends lots of purrrrrrs to the cats, and says she also is nce and warm when the sun shines.

AOT, I hope you are OK, and looking forward to spring.

    Take care all

    Much love
