  • Oh the air outside is still as still and thick enough to cut! I've just had a migraine and you can feel the tension in the atmosphere, it's hot and breathless, something wicked this way comes methinks!
  • It's the same here Lyn, I have a headache, not a migraine. Black clouds keep coming over but not a breath of a breeze anywhere. I think it is going to be a very humid night in bed.

All the washing dried though and I have ironed what needed, but I was dripping by the time I had finished.

  • I've just watered the polytunnel and greenhouse, I think we'll get enough on the plots to not do them, He Who Knows is strimming and wants to mow before it all gets wet and starts growing again! Chilli on the stove smelling luscious and I've just had the most fun idea of what to turn the summerhouse (which is looking tired inside) into.....it's going to become a traditional narrow boat cabin! SILVASAVA gave me the most beautiful lace net curtain with sumptuous frills back in the year to do the windows and that's my starting point, Nell can paint me all the castles and roses I desire and I can play with all the boot fairs/charity shops/jumble slaes to pick up the pretty plates etc. to set dress it with, I love having an ongoing project to play with!

Thunder and lightning here Lyn. It's taken the storm about an hour to travel over the Pennines from Sheffield to here (child was talking to a friend of ours over there when it started with them).
  • I wish something would happen here, it is so muggy we need something to clear the air.

Hope we all stay safe if we have a storm and those who already have it

  • Finally it's raining hard but it's so hot I think sleep will be short on the ground tonight for all of us, take care of yourselves, Lyn xxx.
  • Well we didn't have a storm last night, but it is a little fresher this morning.

Just put the WM on, just showered and about to dry my hair.

We are going out to lunch, there will be 7 of us, so no cooking for me today Hooray.

Have a good day all I hope it is a little fresher where you are

Very impressive thunderstorm last night, sheet lightning across the sky and loads of rain - just what the garden needed! Today forecast sunny all day temperature 19 to 20 degrees, so a bit of garden loafing on the cards today. Once I have put the bed linen on to wash first.

We had a humdinger of a storm and periods of very heavy rain but it just got warmer and warmer and He Who Knows had to fling wide the big windows at 4 am as it was unbearable in the bedroom. Grey and looks like rain this morning and still warm but not uncomfortable. I too have just put the washing machine on and we did go through the freezer in the garage yesterday and found a couple of big bags of last years raspberries so I'll make a batch of jam this morning and that will be the last jam this year. Have a lovely lunch out CANDLELIGHT it's always lovely not to have to do the washing up isn't it?

14.34 pm and 12 large jars of raspberry jam cooling in he dining room ...11 now, just given one to a neighbour in exchange for a large tub of leftover coleslaw!

Blackberry chutney simmering away on the hob and just about to start chopping cider apples, no time for boredom in our house today!
  • Well we had heavy rain this afternoon. Unfortunately we were out and I had left the washing out. Never mind have just finished it off in the TD.

We had a lovely meal at lunch time although the service was a bit slow. Celebrated BILs birthday which isn't until the beginning of September, but that will be here next week. I can't get over how the nights are drawing in. I like autumn but I don't want to lose summer.

We are off to Lidl tomorrow to see what bargains there might be and to stock up my cupboards. They look a little depleted because I tend to run them down during the summer, but now is the time to start all over again.

AOT I hope you are OK and all the building work is finished now.

HOGLET are you OK? How is your winter so far?

SM it must be a busy time on the farm, but I imagine the weather hasn't helped. I don't think you have had much of a summer have you?

:j Hello to everyone else, I hope you are well. I know Lyn is, but she is up to her eyes in cider, jam and chutney, so she will be set up for winter, lucky girl.

    Have a good week all

    Much love
