Hello again everyone, I got back home just after 12 today having left DD2 at 7.25 this morning! The local bus topped it off by being 20 minutes late and I was sooooo much in need of a cuppa I drooped at the bus stop! Life after tea is so much more positive than life tea deprived I find!!!
That Zebra was on fine form and I'm exhausted, my knees are worst with all the upping and downing to play and chase him when he decides it's chase me time, he runs behind their sofa and does a cheeky little cheesy grin round the arm before pelting off down the hallway and of course Oma has to follow!! Must be good for me, even if I feel 100 years older today! He's learned some new words with Oma too and can now say Bear, Tiger, Car and 'nana' for banana and has his own version of crocodile, strawberry and blueberry and can give a very good 'baa-baa' for a picture of a sheep and a 'rah' roar for lions and tigers, pretty cute!
SM I'm sad for you that you have such a lot to burden your heart at the moment, it's always so sad to have to be the bystander and able to do nothing to change the situation when friends and loved ones have reached the term of their lives. That saying 'There is a time for all things' applies to people as well as events and brings our own mortality home to each of us on an individual basis doesn't it love? You are a good friend indeed to be helping her husband in the way you are, it will also be helping your friend to know that caring is taking the form of action and will give her some peace of mind at a time when she will need it most. We all must end at some time and hope that the ending will be as peaceful and comfortable as it's able to be, your friend and DH's uncle are being cared for by the medics as well as is possible I'm sure and will both gain peace and strength from knowing your caring and love is for them both. The best way you can help them and you is by living your own life as fully and as happily as you are able to do each and every day, live a little bit for each of them, keep them in your heart and memory and even when the inevitable happens and they do pass the end of their lives they will live on with you and make you smile when you do have memories of them both. I do this with my Dad, every time something funny or silly happens, when I have a problem or am sad I talk to him and I know he's there listening to the mad, sad and silly as much as the glorious, giddy and happy things we share, it helps pet, chin up you're a good 'un, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi Lyn,
So good to see you back, you have been very much missed.
That Zebra child sounds a very cheeky boy to me, but he must have loved to have his Oma with him for so long, and I hope DD is recovered now.
Enjoy the peace and quiet now, and no doubt you will already have started the watering after a much deserved cup of tea.
Much love

Oh yes I have and have just had a text from He Who Knows in the middle of Norway asking me how the courgette crop is on the allotment!!!!!AAAAGGHHHHHHH!!!!! can that man never stop thinking of his veg plots??? not even on holiday? I sent him a text saying I'd go tomorrow as I'm shattered and the cheeky blighter texted back OK how are the marrows then? He's so naughty!!! Ezra must get it from him!!! xxx.
Thanks CANDLELIGHT DD is now completely well and fully functioning again in fact did two late nights at the surgery to do things she would have done last week had she been there, and some admin things for the practice that needed doing too. She's tired at the end of the day but she leaves before 7 for the hours drive to get there , has a full on day and doesn't get home on a normal day until after 7 pm so it's no surprise she's whacked is it?0 -
Hello all,
We have had gentle rain for much of today, just what the garden needed.
We went to the supermarket quite early this morning for some provisions for the weekend.
We had a lovely meal yesterday with DD and DGS. The girls had fish and the boys had gammon. I was telling Lyn DD went out for the first time without her crutch, so her confidence is growing. We are so proud of her, we don't know what the future holds for her but she is determined no more operations in the near future.
Nothing in particular planned for the weekend, although I would like to pop up and see my sister and brother in law at some time. I understand weather might be OK tomorrow but not Sunday, so possibly a day at home.
We have spaghetti and tomato and mascopone sauce with bacon bits for our evening meal so looking forward to that. DGD is very fond of pasta.
AOT I am glad you are feeling the benefit from the B12 injections, I am sure the B12 tablets I am taking are helping. I have only been taking them for a couple of weeks, and obviously nothing like your injections, but I don't feel as tired. I am not very good at being old I want the energy I had in my 30s:):)
SM hang on in there my lovely, it must be such a comfort to your friend to know someone is looking out for her husband.
No more news here, fairly boring this week, Oh just remembered haven't heard anything about my mammogram so hopefully it was OK.
Have a good weekend all and take care
Much love

Morning everyone, just back from my holiday and having a quick catch up.
Mrs LW - tea is fantastic I agree but I think my intake is excessive so except for two cups a day I'm replacing them with water for a while to see how I go. So far (and this is the third day) I'm just headachy.
Lots to do today, washing to get up to date and all the other things when you get back from being away.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Hi everyone,
Lovely to catch up your news - Candlelight that dinner sounds yummy.
We had a lovely weekend - out at my cousin's for her son's 9th birthday on Saturday. DH was meant to be going to the rugby but his kneee swelled up and he was in a lot of pain. So he came and listened to the ladies catch up whilst he watched some sport on TV. I'd had a fantic morning getting everything ready to it was just lovely o get out there and relax.
Sunday we had a bit of an indulgent day and went shopping for not very much in particular. DH's leg was feeling much better so he was able to get around the shops OK. We found him a half price coat, and I treated myself to some half price nice polishes. Got a few gifts in the sales for up coming birthdays.
Cats are all OK - Alfie woke me up meowing outside out bedroom window at midnight. we have a cat flap!
Better get onto some work.
Love to you all

Hello all,
It was a dreadful day yesterday, rained for most of the day. Today is overcast but only a few light showers.
Off to the hairdressers tomorrow morning and taking DGD2 to the orthodontist in the afternoon, other than that it should be a quiet week.
We went to Lidlee today because I had £5 off a £40 shop and I was very pleasantly surprised. I have only ever been once before but I really stocked up my store cupboard. I had let this run down over the last few months, but it was time to start stocking up again. Their meat looked really good as well, but my freezer is full at the moment so that will have to wait a little while, but we will definitely be going back.
We have the other half of the chicken we had yesterday for this evenings meal. I am not doing roast potatoes but I have some baby new potatoes, garden peas, broccoli and yorkies (and S/O stuffing). DGD1 is never able to manage a dessert but might have something later. She has always been the same, I think she has a small tummy and she feels ill if she eats too much in one go.
SM I hope you are managing to work and cope with everything else that is going on in your life, sending you a big hug.
Hoglet, DH's knee sounds nasty I hope it continues to improve. Flora sends lots of puurrrrrrrrrrrs to the cats.
Lyn, have a wonderful time in Barcelona with Nell and soak up some of that lovely sun, I shall expect to hear all about your adventues when you come home.
Much love

Evening all.
Wet, cold and windy here. I'm starting to worry about my tomatoes even though they are in the greenhouse as it was only 5 degrees this morning. We are struggling to get harvest in in the farm and it's all a bit tense.
My friend is waiting to hear if there is space in the local hospice for her. Her medication is helping to keep the pain at bay and although she is tired her spirit is good and she actually looked quite perky yesterday. She has asked me to carry out some very specific requests when the time comes so I'm noting everything down. Social Services were due to visit her husband today however they called and asked how he was managing just now. When he said myself and others were helping they cancelled the visit and said he wasn't a priority. We are furious so my neighbour is calling his GP again tomorrow as she is also a patient at the same medical practice to ask him to intervene.
I was invited out to lunch at some distant family members on Saturday however I must have picked up a bug so had to cut short my morning run and spent the day on the couch feeling decidedly off. Thankfully it turned out to be a 24 hour thing. Just as well, I haven't time to be unwell right now!
I made the blackcurrant jam. Made it in the breadmaker and I think I used more pectin than needed, although just what the recipe called for. It would be fair to say it is a little stiff and solid but very tasty:D
I have my cupcakes planned for the birthday party on Fiday. I thought 4 varieties would be fine - red velvet, mint chocolate chip, caramel and tolerance cupcakes. I'll make the the cupcakes in Thursday and will frost them on Friday. At least, that's the plan at the moment
Lyn- have a wonderful time in Barcelona. It's a city I've always thought would be nice for a short break. One of these days......
Your comment about living a little bit for others rang so true. My husband had a very dear uncle who was sadly paralysed from the chest down due to an accident in his twenties. He had been an avid traveller across the U.S. And Canada prior to the accident and he positively revelled in helping me plan our holidays. He always said that he lived those trips and the places he never made it to through us. He's no longer with us but on every single holiday we visit somewhere or do something we know he would have enjoyed. I just need to remember that and make the most of the time I can spend with friends and family who are ill.
Hoglet - sounds like the cat flap is only for use when meowing outside the window fails to attract some attention!
Candlelight - I should really think about replenishing my store cupboard. I've been running it down during summer however it's feeling so autumnal here that I should at least start a list of what I need to have in it.
AOT - hope the builders have gone and you arent under a foot of cement dust:D0 -
SM as long as those loved and cared about who have gone ahead are loved, remembered, thought of with affection and are regular and familiar faces in our everyday lives they will NEVER really be gone from us. The warmth and closeness stays with each memory and smile that they bring and adds a richness to our lives, an extra layer of being if you like that enriches and gladdens our hearts.0

Hello all,
Very quiet on here at the moment, everyone must be busy.
We have had a reasonably quiet week, had my hair done on Tuesday, paid a visit to Lidl and was very impressed with their prices and I also had a £5 voucher off a £40 shop so even better.
Took DGD2 to the othodontist on Tuesday and they all came for their dinner on Friday. I try to get all 3 of them together as often as possible because I don't want them to lose touch with each other. I did a roast chicken dinner and then they went up to their sister's room to watch a DVD. I love to hear them laughing and chattering together because that is as it should be, but they were not allowed to do that at home, their father used to get cross. DGD1 has settled in really well and Himself teases her something dreadful by asking her what time she will be in at night. She takes it all in good part.
We popped up to see DD today, we hadn't seen her all week and it turns out she had a fall whilst taking her rubbish bag out for the dustmen. The grass was wet and she slipped. Nothing broken thank goodness, but a few bruises.
This week must go and see my sister and BIL. We were going last week but she was babysitting 2 of her grandchildren on 2 days and she is doing the same this week, so will need to go the early part of the week.
It is good to see you back Lyn and I know you will be busy with all the veg and preserving so I dn't expect we will see much of you, so take care and pace yourself.
Have a good week all
