    Hi all,

MLW - yippee for the shower! great news :-)

Candlelight - I do hope you and Himself feel better soon - nasty colds are just awful. I hope the weather picks up for you soon.

I'm sorry to mention it but it's been about 26 degrees everyday for about a month now. The weather is truly glorious and we have been out enjoying it. Things are starting to ripen in the garden but it is so dry, thank goodness we are not on tank water. It looks as tho we have saved most of the tomatoes altnough I did have to sacrifice 3 big plants.

we had a lovely weekend - it was a public holiday here yesterday. I was out blueberry picking at a PYO farm on Saturday with some friends. We got quite a haul and they were very reasonably priced at $10 (5 pounds) per kg. The freezer is now stuffed full of them.

I do hope you are all managing to keep warm - I'm working on sending you some sunshine :-)

    Love Hoglet x
  • Thank you Hoglet we are on the mend.

Please don't apologise talking about your summer, I am jealous, but in a kind way. I am pleased you didn't lose all your tomato plants, but it sounds as though you could do with some gentle rain to bring everything on.

The blueberries sound good, they should see you through to Autumn as well I would think. When our DDs were young there used to be an apple farm over at Snitterfield, near Stratford on Avon, and during half term in October we used to go over there and my goodness those apples were lovely. It isn't there any more I think the land was sold to build on.

You soak up that lovely sunshine, and if you can manage to send a little over I am sure I wouldn't be the only grateful one on here.

    Take care

    Much love

    Awww thank you Candlelight :-)

We are having a national potato and apple shortage apparently, because of the slow start to the season, so we will look forward to new apples when they arrive, hopefully soon!
  • Hi Hoglet,

When I met Himself he lived on a farm in Kent which grew apples, cherries, plums, greengages etc. Being a city girl I had never seen the like and I thought I was in 7th heaven.

They grew a wonderful variety of apples, but now if you go into a SM you might have a choice of about 4 British apples (I m talking September onwards), so what happens to all the other varieties that are grown? The trouble is if they don't conform to shape and size they are discarded, what a dreadful waste.

Dear Sister and BIL came to see us today, they are off back to the sunshine State at the beginning of February, so it was good to see them. They don't like the cold weather here so spend about 6 months, on and off, in Florida. Guess what, she had bought me a poppy which had been displayed at the Tower of London in that spectacular display, I am absolutely thrilled. Also with it is a booklet describing everything, and also the charities who will benefit from the donations, entitled Your Piece of History. I am one lucky lady.

Still no snow, so hopefully we might be lucky, although we have had a fair amount of rain today, and I actually feel a bit warmer today as well.

Take care everyone and SM I know the weather is bad in Scotland so take care.

    Much love

  • A VERY HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO THE ZEBRA CHILD:bdaycake:

LOTS OF LOVE FROM FLORA XXX
  • It is snowing here  I don't think it will lay for long though

    Candlelightx
  • Thank you FLORA I'll tell him tonight when he and his Mum Skype us, I can't believe he's a year old already the time has just flown by. I'm off to do my first whole day sitting him on Thursday next week, his Dad has to go abroad for a conference and Mum has to leave at 7 in the morning to drive to work so I'll be doing a 12 hour stretch, wish us both luck!!!

No snow here but black clouds and copious amounts of water falling from them too. I've just walked the Dockling and it's bitterly cold out there but the wind has dropped so as long as you keep moving it's bearable, Lyn xxx.
  • You know Lyn, it doesn't seem 5 minutes since you told us all DD was expecting a baby, and here we are Ezra's first birthday. Life is wonderful isn't it, and knowing you had something to do with your grandson's personality because of his genes, some of which he inherited from you and He Who Knows.

You will have a wonderful time next Thursday babysitting, albeit you might be a little tired by bedtime, but precious moments

    Much love

    Hoglet..o your sunshine sounds wonderful..

    Daisy are you ok

SM..thank you so much for the goodies that arrived..they are totally amazing..

    AOT..hello are you ok?

Kate how is the house?..you ok?

    VJ'smum..hello babe

    Cheapskate..hi ya..you busy babe?

Well needless to say life has definitely thrown a curve ball our way..Simon has injured his arm at work..this is the arm that 15 yrs ago they wanted to amputate below the elbow due to damage to his nerves and bones..he has been off with a sicknote since last Monday..and the doctor has given him another one for another 2 wks..and some extra strong painkillers that seem to zonk him..he has had x-rays and it seems some of the work he had done..has come to the end of its life and they may have to re-do it all..was funny looking at his x-ray and seeing silicone and 5 bones not 7..and the bang on his arm seems to have split the silicone..its not leaking out but could.
So we have had to be very careful with money and sort out all finances again..i did do a huge online shop for tins, packets and dried goods..i have again been making bread and cobs..and meal planned for eternity..i went shopping and got quite a few yellow sticker bargains..meat,fish etc..am all stocked up and really well stocked in my little pantry...so the SSP..which isn't the best should tide us over.

In other news Annies twins are doing great..we have been slowly buying her bits and bobs for them..but i offered her an I.O.U. booklet..for time..time for herself= me babysitting..so on and so forth..she loves it..she has decided upon names..Esme and Olivia..which ever one comes out first is Esme:D..she is swelling well now..the girls sat with her on Saturday with their hands on her tummy and could feel the babies moving..

Sam is ok..not too despondent bless him..thank you all so much for the lovely advice you found for him especially you Nursemaggie.. he has read it and is now getting all things gathered so he can maybe put forward a small buisness plan..

right have to go..i have a small ham joint roasting in the oven and the smell is driving me crazy..having it sliced with brown rice and peas for tea..
    love to you all
