  • Having supervised and given professional opinions of great validity re garden procedures he's got bored and is fast asleep in his armchair!!!
  • So pleased to hear about Docky and lots of 'doctor green' i.e. grass! seems to have helped.I love reading about his busy life, and yours. Rosie eats grass most days, and when I was farming we noticed that the hounds picked up after eating it, not necessarily being sick though, usually the 'other end'!!

MrsL, good news it is something which can be managed x

FTM, identical twins, how lovely x

Hoglet, you deserve a holiday, hope you get to relax x

Came home to a £5 Tilda voucher as I had a dodgy pack of microwave rice recently - very impressed with their customer service.

Also got 3 lots of £10 off a £40 spend at Waitrose so will make sure I use those before 9th December.

Chilly here, just having a hot choc to warm up. Got an Ocado delivery due between 8.30 and 9.30 and will be in bed the second it is put away!

OH is away tonight so it's quiet here.

Off to my sisters for the weekend making use of a voucher I got for a delayed train so almost a free trip to see my family! Day off tomorrow, I really need it!
  • MrsLW - good news about Docky. Much more reassuring to know it's something treatable.

Hoglet - have a restful time.

FTM - You are doing a great job with the girls. I think to have a small child silent for 2 minutes is quite an achievement.

Candlelight - I do hope your DGD enjoys Paris. I visited as a moody 15 year old and declared the place shabby and the Eiffel Tower rusty. I've always intended to go back as I'm certain I would have a much different aspect on the city now. Hubby isn't up for a Paris trip so maybe mum and I could go next spring.

It's been a busy week here and I was looking forward to some time off next week however there is a bit of a crisis at work so I think I may have to work. I'm less than thrilled about it as mum and I are off to London for the day on Saturday and I'd hope to play catch up on Monday. We don't have any set plans for the day however I'm watching the Liberty documentary at the moment and thinking I'd really like to go there. I think it would be right up mum's street too!

FTM - goodness only knows how the sweatshirt sleeves got so long - they weren't always like that. Of course hubby has no idea :)

I have dreadful earache and a scratchy throat tonight so I'm off to rummage for some cold relief tablets in the hope I can stave off any bugs which may be heading my way. I haven't time to be ill!

Bum, forgot to unset my alarm so it went off at 6.00 on my day off.

On my second cup of tea and looking forward to a productive morning before heading off to catch the train!

SM, hope you feel better. I started to feel really cold-y the day before we were due to have a week off work - typical. Took lemsips (bleugh!) every 4 hours and luckily it didn't develop.
  • Good morning all..was up extra early today..the rain is hitting my bedroom window really hard kept waking me up..so i gave up and got up.

Kate isn't that a real bummer when you do that..enjoy your day off.

MLW..o so pleased Docky is feeling better after the "green incident"..bless him..give him hugs from us..

Candlelight..o your poor DGD..its truly awful this virus..poor Annie is off work with a chest infection and Fionna has a cold and all bunged up..hoping that she feels better soon..i hope your dgs has a great time in Paris..

SM..lol at Iris being quiet..i honestly didn't think she would do it for 2 whole minutes..she is such a jumping jack and cannot sit or stand still at all..but she did it and am proud of her for doing it.I was and still am totally baffled at how sleeves can be lengthened..unless he pulls at them ..well i hope you fix them..and i really hope your sore throat and earache don't amount to anything...

Right i can hear footsteps on the stairs..its the 2 pink ninja's trying to sneak up on me..

  • Evening all, just the hound and me tonight as He Who Knows is up with DD1 being a useful Daddy and taking her out for dinner this evening as well. Docky is a bit lost as his routine is a bit different but I think he's OK. Had a nice walkies this afternoon with his bestest pal Charlie the Retriever and his Mumi which always makes him a happy boy.

FTM I've lit the other half of that lovely candle you sent last year and my lounge smells amazing, I was very careful with how often I used it last year as it's so delicious I wanted to make it last. It's sat on top of the woodburner with a lovely red glow from the glass, (it's too warm to light up today)making everywhere look cosy and small wonderful. Kitchen smells lovely too as I'm roasting up a chicken breast for my supper, I only do this when I'm on my own as He Who Knows does not like 'bird' of any kind so I rarely have chicken. Looking forward to it lots.

Hope everyone is fine and just busy, I went to an NCT nearly new toy sale on Saturday and got that Zebra some lovely things including a reindeer rocking horse for just £8, I couldn't believe it, it's in really good condition and just the right size for this year. He's finally learned to crawl forwards and I'm visiting on Thursday en route to DD1 for a concert this coming weekend, it's the Berlioz Requiem they sang in the Festival Hall and the Philharmonia Orchestra are going up to the Cathedral to accompany them, should be wonderful. I'm such a proud mum when I hear them sing, puffer pidgeon doesn't even begin!!! Lyn xxx.
  • Hi all..hope everyone is ok

MLW..aww so glad my little candle is still going and making your room all cosy..the little lamp you sent me is lit every night..its on my fireplace and a scented candle tealight is popped in it..it makes my room look so glowy and cosy..its kind of a ritual now to light it when it gets slightly dark..hope Docky is settling down now for you.
So glad Ezra is crawling forwards..its a lovely time..soon he will be pulling himself up on the sofa and away he will go.The rocking horse sounds amazing..i love going to the NCT sales here..as for Nell singing..wow just wow..you have every right to be puffed up..your girls are just wonderful and role models for 2 little girls here. I hope you enjoyed your chicken.

I have been on a mission here..all beds changed, house is spick and span and 5 bags of little girls clothes plus shoes all put on Netmums for free..they are all sorted into sizes and a complete school uniform too..going through the bags i found 3 shirts to fit Iris and 2 tops for Fern..must have got put in by mistake..i have a hip carrying thing that clips around your waist with a little shelf seat on it to help carry your baby around without getting back ache..am not sure what to do with it..Annie doesn't want it ..o well its in my cupboard will decide later.

Its Fern's 9th birthday next week..so i have to get her present..Lego friends is what she would like..i have seen some at a reasonable price..she also asked for a choclate cake..i saw one on pinterest..its all choclate covered in choclate fudge..surrounded by either flakes or fingers and ontop is divided into quarters with fingers and each quarter is filled with either choclate buttons,chips,m&m's..etc..its a real death by choclate cake..but she wants that one...so be it..i have balloons and streamers plus some lovely pink party accessories for the table..she is excited already.

right am off to finish some bits and then lunch, then ironing..
    take care all

  • Hello all,

A cold day again here, it was very wet first thing but has stopped raining now.

Took DD shopping, we didn't know whether she would be able to go because she has had a nasty cold, but she was fine. It was only a cold nothing like that bug we have all had.

All Christmas presents are wrapped, all store cards bought, just have to put money in wallets nearer the time. I have not bought the young people lots of presents because I know they much prefer money and chocolates of course :) Feeling quite pleased with myself because I can remember when I was at work it was always such a rush. We had an hours lunch and this was spent partly grabbing a sandwich and partly walking aimlessly round shops trying to think what to buy. Being retired has it's advantages.

We are hoping to go to Ikea tomorrow. We are lucky because we have one in the town centre, before that we had to travel quite a distance to Wednesbury . I only need a couple of things, well that is what I say now, but I do like to look at their room settings for ideas for Christmas.

Hoglet I hope you are enjoying your holiday.

FTM you have been busy, and sounds as though more to come. I hope Fern has a lovely birthday.

Lyn I hope you and Docky are OK whilst He Who Knows is away and Docky is more settled. Do you know we still had fireworks this weekend you do wonder sometimes when it will end.

AOT how are you doing? Has your hand healed now and do you have plans for Christmas yet?

VJs Mum are you OK? Busy?

    SM hellooooooooooo

Kate you must be so excited about your new house and all the plans you must have in your head.

Hello to anyone I have missed, hope you are all OK

    Much love

Hello, sorry for going AWOL - thanks for missing me

Still trying to do everything :o

This is my busy term at work and i am getting a little snowed under. Ended up doing a trip to London with stoodents last week as a colleague has been suspended  i can't quite work out why said colleague isn't back yet - 3 weeks now and it seemed a minor transgression. I can only think there must be more to it. We visited the Olympic park, The RICS and Battersea power station. Really interesting trip but I could have done with the time.

DD is thoroughly enjoying her course. She has had a spot of "man Trouble". such a shame - she had never had a boyfriend and got close to a guy in her flat. They went out on Saturday and shared a little kiss :) By yesterday he was telling her he loved her  Proper freaked her out. So we have had a chat and she let him down gently. A bit tricky with them living in the same flat - bliddy men, if he'd taken it slowly it might have developed nicely. We have just phoned her and she is OK - says its a bit weird, but she is behaving as though nothing happened.

Am really into my "clean" "wholefood" eating. Weight has stabilised but I will continue this way of eating as I feel so much healthier on it. Still dooing lots of experimental cooking with this and that. LOL - in my hotel last week in London, I had taken some sourdough bread as i knew we were on continental breeakfast and my choices would be limited. i put two slices in the toaster and when I cam back someone had swiped one. Ruddy cheek :rotfl: i bet they thought the hotel had gone up in the world with homemade sourdough on offer :p

FTM - identical twins? how lovely
Lynne - glad docky's condition is treatable
Candlelight - presents wrapped? I haven't even got round to thinking about it yet. Apart from Mil, for whom I have bought a tower of London poppy (and one for me )
Scottish Minnie - Paree is one of my favouritist places.

    Have a good evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
