  • Good morning, I got back late yesterday afternoon after what is the best performance I've ever been lucky enough to see. The choral Society were spot on and the Philharmonia are always magnificent it was the performance of a lifetime and the cathedral with its after ring was just the right venue for Berlioz Grande Messe des Mortes which is a splendid piece anyhow. There were people who had come up from London just for this performance of their favourite piece of music who having been to every performance of it in the 35 years they had been married said it was the best ever and even a lady who had flown in from Australia just to see this combination perform this music and was flying back the next day, wow it was THE BEST!!!

Yes the Dockling was very happy to see me again and seems to be so much better on his medication, he's the dog we used to know and he's playing and sleeping and settled it's such a change from the past 6 months or so when he was lost. He's in for another couple of specific blood tests tomorrow as he's got the symptoms of Hypothyroidism so the vet wants to rule it in or out according to results.

That Zebra is coming on in leaps and bounds, he's doing a mega fast crawl and pulling himself up on the furniture and walking along, occasionally he forgets and tries to walk away and goes flop but it's not going to be long. He is such a delight a happy and smiling little lad who is sleeping 12 hours a night so him parents are feeling almost human again. They skyped to DD1 and myself on Sunday morning and she was talking to her sister and I was saying Hiya and Ah dad to Zebra who was talking back to me, he finally gets the computer and is interacting, so funny, so lovely!!! Nice to be home and in harness again now, and off again on the 5th for another visit to both of them and the concert this time is Bachs' Christmas Oratorio which the Choral Society are performing instead of the usual Handels' Messiah, It's another beautiful piece so I'm looking forward to that very much. Then it's only a couple of weeks before Nell and I fly off to Berlin for the christmas markets and hopefully a dose of snow, bratwurst and gluhwein and general German Christmasness which is totally wonderful. Lyn xxx.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY FERN!!!

Hi everyone, popped into town today to top up the fridge as we were looking like Mother Hubbards Cupboard in there, much better now. Visited Alidee and Tosco and a few charity shops and came out with many reductions and some lovely toys for that Zebra, who is staying tonight with his mum so I get to do bathtime and cuddles, so I found him some bath ducks too!! The Dockling is really back to being his old self, eager for walks, wanting his dinner and demanding snackages and actually coming up to ask for cuddles and earyskritches, he's sleeping all night and in with us wherever we are during the day, it's close to miraculous and I'm enjoying every second of it, hopefully the boy is too. He seems so happy now, like he was lost and has found his way home again.

Hope that Fern has had a lovely day and knowing you FTM she will have and that you have all had lots of fun and CAKE!!! How is Annie doing now with the twins? hope she's feeling better and that the size difference in the embryos isn't going to be a problem.

Hope everyone is well and happy and having fun, Lyn xxx.
  • Lyn, it sounds as though you have had a very productive shopping trip, and Docky sounds wonderful, how good is it that he is almost back to normal.

Have fun with the Zebra child, especially at bath time

  • FTM I hope Fern has had a lovely chocolaty birthday :) She will be tired out by bedtime tonight

    Love to you all

  • Happy Birthday Fern!

Hope you have a lovely day :-)
  • Hi everyone, I've just been to the shops in the village and come away with so many bargains I'm impressed and in one stop the young lad on the till reduced all the reductions by half again which meant among other things I got 500g of minced steak for 75p, wow, it must be 'Be kind to Pensioners Sunday'.

Quite a nice day here today but very still and very damp on the ground so the washing is up and drying in the utility room rather than outside. He Who Knows is in the greenhouse washing flower pots, the hound is fed and the housework and ironing are done and put away. I'm going to have a tidy up in the freezer and make some room to start some christmas cooking, not masses but a nice quiche, some sausage rolls and some muffins to ring the changes for breakfast. Also to make room in there to get my piece of brisket in before we go to the christmas markets in Berlin and a piece of gammon so I can know it's in before I go. The rest of the food I'm going to have delivered, I don't think I can face all the madness in the supermarket and we're really simplifying things this year so I won't be tempted to get things just in case we fancy them.

Hope all of you are well and happy and just busy, we're not such an active little thread here these days but I do check every day just in case someone has posted, look after yourselves, Love Lyn xxx.
  • Hi everyone,

It is lovely here as well Lyn. blue sky with the odd cloud.

Washing done, made a mincemeat cake before we went out to see DD, she is fine, new exercises to do, which are quite hard, I understand. Roast beef and all the trimmings for lunch and then hopefully a restful afternoon.

I have a busy week coming up, taking DD shopping tomorrow, Tuesday I have my retinal scrseening, so for about 2 hours after I can't see very well because of the drops they put in to do the screening, Wednesday having my nails done, Thursday meeting the girlss I used to work with for lunch and then on Friday DD wants to go into town to have her hair done and eyebrows threaded . So Busy, Busy, Busy :)

All presents wrapped now except I needed just one more small present for DGS, so i asked his sister and her boyfriend suggested a particulaar DVD, so just need to send for that, and then all done. I still have the beef to buy for Christmas Day, and no one seems to have room for dessert so will have a selection of icecream in the freezer. The turkey crown is already in there, but I do have sausage rolls and mince pies to make, but plenty of time for that (I hope).

I hope everyone is well and just very busy.

AOT how are you? Have you recovered from your op?

    Have a good day everyone

    Much love

  • Hi Everyone

Well you'll all be surprised to learn that we had a quiet weekend! I picked up a cough and cold last week so good to take a bit of time to get housework etc done slowly.

We were promised awful weather all weekend, and got the reverse with the odd shower. Most of the washing got dry on the line, got my ironing done early on Sunday so wasn't trying to do it last thing at night, made a small bit of soup for the week, 3 x chasseurs in the freezer, house hoovered, including upstairs, DH dusted, kitchen sort of cleaned and cupboards washed down. Made rosemary flatbread to have with dinner, it was so yummy!

Quick trip out to see my cousin's kids' Christmas party - a fairly unconvincing Santa had the kids wanting confirmation that he wasn't the 'real Santa was he?' They seemed to have a good time anyway and it was nice to do something a bit different.

DH has announced he wishes to make mince pies this year! He's a good baker so we'll see what he comes up with - I was a bit surprised but I'm sure they'll taste great. As Christmas isn't at ours this year we have little to prepare. Turkeys aren't really done down here much, so we have a ham, salads, maybe a fish on the BBQ. We're starting early at my cousin's this year as they only have her step daughter for the morning - so it'll be a Christmas brunch and then ham and stuff for dinner. We're taking a tent and camping in their garden so no fighting over whose turn it is to drive. I won't finish work till Christmas Eve, so don't ask me when I'll be producing my contributions for brunch and dinner.... (DH will be on ham duty!)

Apart from the kids we do a Secret Santa amongst the family - limit is $50 - everyone gets a decent present but we don't all have the expense of lots of presents, it works really well for us. Last year we all went round the table and said the best thing that had happened to us that year so maybe we'll be doing the same again this year.

Yes it has been quiet on here - I've been checking back over the last few days and was sorry to see no new posts. I guess it's getting to a busy time of year

    lots of love

    Hoglet x
