Hello all.so sorry i haven't been back on..afraid i got caught up with work and school and christmasy things..
So here is my week last week..very frugal really..didn't spend hardly anything which i am pleased about..we went to our local church for a christmas fayre..it was packed but we had a good look around..lots of mums with stalls with home-made bits and bobs..lovely to see them all..all were very friendly and a few admitted they made the stuff to boost bank accounts..very refreshing to actually have some one admit it.
We did our little bit and bought some items..2 beautiful owls made from old clothes..absolutely gorgeous..and 2 lovely book marks..we were very pleased with our items..i did buy some lavender sachets as mine have lost the smell now..mind you they are a few years old..we had a cup of tea and a mince pie too..it was lovely..
I have been running down my freezer to make way for my Christmas shopping..and the fact that i have bought half a lamb..its being butchered this week and delivered to me at the weekend..lots of meat to keep us going and the butcher is giving me a turkey too..so thats nice.
I went shopping on Saturday with hubby..it was his birthday and i treated him to lunch out and a new book he wanted..very easy to please at times.
I had a great time shopping..got my little grand-children a present each ..i found a gift card in my purse and found it was still valid..i had £25 on it..wow..i went and bought the girls a lovely top each and a pair of pyjama's..i only had to pay £3 on top of it..i was very happy with that..i spent some nectar points as well on treats for christmas..choclates and some biscuits.
I had a rummage through my Christmas box and found a box of 12 crackers that i bought in January for £1..also i found a table cloth, table runner and place mats and napkins..all white with gold embroidered Christmas trees in the corners..the price on the packet is £20..however i paid £5 in the sales..
I have our old advent calender out..and girls have a choclate one each..also i have got all the Christmas story books down and we read one a day up to Christmas eve and then it's our favourite.."twas the night before christmas"..we love that one..
I don't need that much shopping for Christmas this year so i am relieved about that..obviously buying a bottle of sparkly for the day and some beers for the lads..maybe some pop for girls too..we have decided to try and not buy too much and to make it ourselves like we did last year..it was so much better..and to be honest tasted nicer..
The chickens have stopped laying at the moment..but i have plenty of eggs in the fridge to tide me over..hopefully they will start again if we get some sunshine.
right i am going to read all the posts now..will be back tomorrow.
love

scottishminnie wrote: »VJ's mum - key lime pie is my favourite. I bring back bottles of key lime juice from Florida and I do keep meaning to make something else with it however I always end up just doing key lime pie again!
I had a spare hour today so nipped out and gave blood before the gap in my diary disappeared. I'm very aware that people are so busy at this time of year the stock levels often drop very low. The staff are always very welcoming and they insist on you having tea and a biscuit before you leave. They have cheese sandwich biscuits, kind of ritz cracker type things which I remember from the 70's. We only ever had them in special occasions though so I enjoy one when I'm there ( bet they are full of awful preservatives and e numbers:))
The rhubarb gin seems to be fermenting well, I shake it up every 10 days or so. I also am thinking about making bacon jam, I saw a cookery show at the weekend where it was served with bacon and avocado on toasted sourdough bread. Sounded delicious.
I keep thinking I must give blood; I used to have a real issue with needles so have only done it once but now have a contraceptive injection every 12 weeks and had 5 lots of dental work in the last few months all involving injections so I reckon I'm over that! From what I recall it was the pinprick on the thumb which really hurt!
I love key lime pie and rhubarb gin sounds lovely. Have some rhubarb vodka in the larder but never seem to get round to drinking it!0 -

:xmastree:Good morning all,
Welcome HOIPOLLOI, as Lyn says we love new friends to chat to, it really is a thread of chatting and exchanging news, and we feel we almost know each other's families. Please stay and join in, and although we don't moan we try to be helpful wherever possible.
You will see we are scattered all over and HOGLET is in New Zealand so it is lovely to hear her news and of course her seasons are opposite to ours here.
SM and FTM, busy, busy as usual, pity about the thwarted trip to London SM. FTM please give the girls a hug from me, and a purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr from Flora :rotfl:
Off to have lunch with the "girls" I used to work with. Two of them are 70 and myself and a friend are 69. but we are all young in our heads. Looking forward to catching up with their news and exchanging Christmas cards.
Have a good day
Much love

Hi everyone
Well the end of a busy week at work and a nice relaxing weekend to look forward to. There is a Saturday market which started 4 weeks ago in our town so I'll have a look tomorrow in the hope for reasonably priced veges. I got a big bag of organic potatoes half price in the supermarket today :-)
Posted a small parcel to my parents for Christmas today - postage was $57 eeeeeeeekk!
Veges are coming along - we've had few strawbs and picked the first 2 tomatoes today. Beans are forming and passion fruit is flowering with 1 or 2 fruit setting. Lots of limes setting on the tree - thank goodness, first year it's managed that.
Candlelight that's lovely of you to say :-)
Lots of love
Hoglet x0
