Oh I so get this!
Quiet day here today, have lost my oomph so just been pottering and surfing.
Off to make shepherds pie for dinner with leftover roast lamb - yum!
Then quiet evening, will catch up on The Apprentice and then have an early night. How rock n roll are we0 -
Good evening all,
My goodness Lyn you have been busy, and I know what you mean about being in your own home.
Not been a bad day here, it started damp and overcast but improved later. Went to the hairdressers, not before time either, because I had to cancel 3 weeks ago because of the bug I had. Anyway I look much tidier on top now, and I feel better for it.
Took DD to physio and to GP yesterday. She has a new physio and he has given a completely new set of exercises, and she seems much improved/
We are off to Costco tomorrow to stock up on a few things and generally have a look around. Looking forward to seeing their Christmas decorations I don't expect to buy any, but it is nice to look and for ideas.
Have a good weekend all
Much love

Taa Daaahhhh!!! I wish to announce that in a VERY small way I've decided to join the 21st Century!!! Well, I've just used my Tosco Clubcard Vouchers on their boost thingy to buy a new slow cooker which we'll collect tomorrow afternoon from our local Tosco Extra shop which is about a mile away and it will now cost me £1.35p!!! My old Tower one is 1960s vintage and not working as well as it did, I guess things do deteriorate over time and having used DD1s new one when I was up last week and having got cubes of potato cooked perfectly whereas with mine even thin slices sometimes don't I decided now was the time for change!!!!! How daring!!! I shall make a point of using this new one most days if it's as good as DDs and look forward to a much reduced electricity bill.
Hope all of you are well and just busy, I'm looking forward to some cooler weather next week as it's still too hot at night here to sleep, ridiculous in November in the UK and I've only got a 2.5 Tog quilt on too. Bring on the frosty mornings I say yes? Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning everyone,
Candlelight - hope you found lots of bargains in Costco :-)
MLW - I so know what you mean about being home. And your new slow cooker sounds wonderful
We had a busy but very successful weekend... Firday night's fireworks dispaly was great fun, a real feel-good family event (only problem having fireworks in late spring is you have to hang around for ages to wait for it to get dark, and it wasn't all that warm on Friday). The really good news is that I won a wheelbarrow full of meat in a raffle (including the wheelbarrow) I was absolutely over the moon! (and also very glad I'd made space in the freezer recently). Lots of variety and relaly good quality stuff too :-)
Saturday I got a few last pressies for my cousin (found some absolute bargains so was able to put together a nice bag of bits) and got some other bits in the garden centre that I needed. A nice afternoon weather wise got some good solid stakes put in the ground for the tomatoes, the final tomato seedlings planted out and the garden generally tidied up a bit (using my new wheelbarrow). My cousin dropped in with her kids so we had them over for a few hours unexpecedtly which was nice.
Sunday was very busy - I made 2 garlic loaves, the vege stuffed loaf thing, about 50 burger patties and DH attended to 2 whole fish. He had a bit of a nightmare with the snapper so he filleted it and I did it up in a parcel with some Asian flavours and hoped no one would notice! The party was great, the weather was beautiful and we enjoyed sitting outside in the countryside. Lots of people came so she was thoroughly spoiled - lovely to see.
I also met my parents' new cats on Skype. Jess is a lovely friendly little thing, happy to be held and cuddled. Scooby is still a little unsure but likes to be around them where she can hear their voices. When they brought them home they left them to settle in in my old bedroom, and went to have some lunch. Afterwards they went to check on the cats but couldn't find them anywhere. Knowing they couldn't have escaped they were rather confused, but eventually found them hiding together under the wardrobe, 4 eyes peering back at them when they looked underneath. Even just a few hours later they were much more settled, so I'm sure it won't take them too long to feel at home.
Right, I think that's about all our news,
Love to you all,
Hoglet x0 -
MrsL, you have inspired me. I'm going to use my Nectar points to get a new slow cooker which can be used on the hob to sear the ingredients first. Will get it from Agros and I am sure I have a £5 voucher somewhere so then it will only cost £2.49!
Hoglet, you are always so busy!0 -
Hello all,
It has brightened up a bit now, but it doesn't look promising. I have some washing in the machine, so it might need to go on the airer.
Took DD into town today because she wanted to do some Christmas shopping and have her eyebrows threaded. I have just realised she forgot all about that. She has done a lot of shopping on line because she isn't able to drive yet, but she wanted to go into B**ts to have a look at the gift sets. She managed to buy everything she wanted, and Himself and I carried it all.
She did really well, but is very tired now so she will probably have a nap this afternoon.
DGD1 and I are off to the NEC on Saturday to the Craft Show. Can you believe it is 12 months since I was telling you we were going last year:) Time goes so quickly now, but I am really looking forward to it, and she wants some craft bits because I think we are having hand made pressies this year from her. She is very artistic, but I have asked her not to spend a lot of money on us.
FTM I hope eveyone is feeling a bit better now, but if it is the same virus as we have had it takes a few weeks to feel right again. Lyn says she has started with a sore throat, so hopefully it won't develope into something more. Please give the girls a hug from me.
HOGLET as usual you sound so busy, I am sure you must meet yourself coming back. Managed to stock up at Costco and DD bought a few things as well. Their Christmas decorations are just lovely, but a lot of them are mean't for shops and offices, and I saw the pre-lit Christmas trees that I know SM bought. They are beautiful, but where would I put a 7ft tree after Christmas I have no idea
AOT how are you? Is the hand healing, it must be difficult dressing in the morning and cooking? Let us know how you are
KATE I wouldn't be without my slow cooker, and I am going to use Lyn's recipe for brisket at Christmas because it sounds delicious. Also it is so nice to prepare everything in the morning, and you come home much later to a wonderful smell, and dinner almost ready.
Charlies-Aunt are you OK? Haven't "seen" you for a while.
VJsMum hello, hope you are well now after the food poisoning, were you able to go away for half term?
A big HELLO to anyone I may have forgotten, hope you are all well.
Much love to you all

Morning everyone,
Candlelight - ahhhh B**ts at Christmas - one of those really UK things you don't get anywhere else. Whilst I do love that it isn't as commericalised here, the odd poke and prod through a nicely stocked shop around Christmas was good fun. I thiunk we would have the same problem with a 7 ft tree!
Yes the busy weekends are getting a bit ridiculous - what's wrong with sitting in the garden with a good book and a cuppa/glass of wine depending on time of day?! I had this weekend earmarked for relaxing and then......
Friday night is a local festival, which could well be worth a look. Looks like DH will be reffing a 7s tournament all day Saturday and it's the local A&P show this weekend so that's Sunday taken care of.
I finally succumbed to the virus that's been going round here - mixture of a cold with stomach bug. Could slowly feel it starting on Sunday night and it hit me yesterday morning at work. Went home early and lay on the sofa most of the afternoon (errrr also cleaned the kitchen and folded 2 loads of laundry - I'm useless at doing 'nothing') and had an early night. Bounced out of bed this morning feeling like a box of fluffies, so something in the cold and flu capsules works!
As an extended family we do a big secret santa so overall costs are kept down but everyone still gets a gift. This year as well as picking a person we had a lucky dip of letters of the alphabet, and we have to get the gift to link in with the letter. I got 'B' hmmmm will have to get my thinking cap on for that one. My cousin is also doing an activity advent calender for her kids - the older kids (8 and 9) will be with her for 14 days in Dec and she's thinking up a surprise activity for each day that the kids will pick out. She asked me yesterday if one could be a family BBQ and games night at ours, which sounds like lots of fun.
Right, I'd better get onto some work.
Love to you all

Even better, when I went on Tesco website yesterday they gave me a £12 off your first £60 order. I am sure I have ordered from them in the past but not for years so I did a click and collect and got my delivery on the way home.
Lots of cat food and veggies - after years of using Ocado I was amazed at how cheap salad was at Mr T but how expensive other things were.
Sat here with a cuddly kitten on my lap, purring away and keeping me warm. She keeps trying to play with the keyboard!
Hoglet, glad you are feeling better.
OH was up and out by 4.40 this morning, I got up and made him an omelette then went back to bed. We're low carbing to try and lose weight (2 weeks low carbs with lots of lean protein and veg, then good carbs so a pretty healthy diet) which means that we need to plan meals more carefully.
He's away tonight and tomorrow, then back Wednesday night for the rest of the week.0 -

Well i have had an energy spurt here.. i have caught up with all the laundry and the house is back to normal. I have re-organized my kitchen and had a massive clear out..it has given me lots more room..i also was a splurge queen..i bought Fern new pj's and boots..Iris got new vests and boots too...i also used my nectar points to buy a new bread bin and biscuit tin..i went to b&m and bought new kitchen accessories in the old vintage style..but they didn't have bread bin or biscuit tin..got some new tea-towels and oven gloves too.
My hallway has been cleared out and a lovely basket put on the shelf for winter woolies..all coats are out and ready to go..i have now washed and put away all summer hats and sandals and sunglasses ready for next year.
We had a lovely Halloween..lots of littlies arriving and mums and dads all dressed up too..the girls dressed up as a witch and vampire..Simon reckoned i didn't have to as i look like a zombie(cheeky swine)..we had lots of sweeties left over so they have gone onto a box for us..our pumpkin went to the chickens..speaking of which..we got up Saturday morning to find our chickens wandering around the garden..took 15 minutes to catch the little tinkers..someone who shall remain nameless(samuel) forgot to close the hatch when he put them to bed..just glad the cats around here didn't see them.
I had a big batch cooking and baking session on Saturday..my freezer is filling up nicely..
I have dyed my hair blonde again..but i still have light purple streaks in it..

FTM - I also got a voucher from B***n - for £15. Was a bit surprised however I'm not complaining, will find something in the sale to spend it on! Great news about Fionna and Andrea. It will make for a nice Christmas after some tough times for you all.
Mrs LW - enjoy your slow cooker. I recently got my first "crock pot" and I'm quite taken with it. I need to use my food supplies though before I make any more so it may be idle for the next 4 or 5 weeks.
Hoglet, VJsmum and AOT - Hope you are all on the way to recovery now.
Candlelight- if the voice of reason (hubby) hadn't been with me I'd have been sorely tempted by the 12 foot tree. I'd have needed a double height extension to house it though! I get a bit carried away sometimes and forget I don't have a stately home:o
Kate - you have reminded me I should check my nectar points. Don't think I have much however I rally should cash them in. "Use them or lose them" is the office mantra for loyalty points. I think I have around £45 of B**ts points which have been there for a couple of years. Time to get rid of them too!
Off to bed now, early flight tomorrow. I'm not sure how to dress though. We have much cooler weather up here in the last day or so however I think it's still warm in the South. Don't want to arrive looking like an Eskimo:)0
