Yes I was very jealous of the summer reports I was hearing! Our spring seems to be taking a while to get going but once summer's here it's (generally) nice and long.

    Morning everyone

Awww thanks so much FTM and MLW - I didn't want anyone to think I was crowing about us having nice weather at the moment (although it seems to have deserted us today), but if it cheering you up I will certainly continue to mention it :-) What a lovely group we have here.

FTM - yes it's so much fun being tourists in your own city - see things from a different angle. I hope Iris continues to improve, and good news that Fionna is off the painkillers already.

Not too much to report from us - a good potter round the garden after work - lettuces coming along nicely, as are the tomatoes in our hanging basket. Does anyone know if the things you hear about being able to replant a lettuce heart and it regrow are true?

Will give the compost heap a good stir tonight and might get that lemon tree planted out if the weather holds.

Not much planned for the upcoming weekend but need to give the house a good clean as nothing got done last week. Starting to consider redecorating our bedroom - far too many ideas going round my head - how to choose?!

    love to you all

Hi Hoglet..we don't think your crowing..i think its wonderful you have got some sunshine..i have never heard about planting a lettuce heart..give it a go as an experiment and let us know how it goes.

O you should really not mention decorating ..i am starting to get that feeling too..i would love to re do a room or two in this house but will wait til i have definite plan to do it..have you tried pinterest for ideas..so many to choose from..

Iris is much improved today..she managed to eat her lunch and dinner..something she hasn't done since last Thursday..she also had a bowl of icecream for dessert..

I have managed to sort my freezers ready for my batch cooking session..more carrot soup, leek and potato soup..plus lasganes and bolognese..plus i am making some more pies and crumbles too..

I got a brilliant bundle of cardigans for Fern off e*bay..8 cardigans and 2 hooded tops for £10..beautiful colours and mix of styles..

I got 2 pumpkins dropped off on my doorstep earlier..wonderful..so big..we are going to carve faces on them nearer the time..

Right i am going to bed now..enjoy your day Hoglet..

  • Hi FTM

Awww that's so lovely of you to say.

Erm Pintrest is my procrastination weakness - I could spend all day on it if I wasn't careful. So many lovely things... Actually got the bedroom idea I have in mind from a photo of a house DH saw for sale that we both love (and probably has an asking price of about $2 million eeeek!!) Haha so I'll try out the million dollar decorating with a tin of paint and some new curtains when I've saved up for them.

I'm thinking a seagrass type colour on the walls, white skirtings etc with grey curtains. Probably a repaint of the furniture too.... Peaceful but I wonder if it would look too cold?

Maybe I should finish off my last decorating project first - still haven't put up my fake wood mouldings up in the bathroom... actually havent even measured or bought the wood yet so do need to get myself into gear for that one. And errr the floor in the bathroon need attention too..... or a huge bathmat.

Might try trademe for curtains (NZ version of ebay) - some random things turn up there!!

I will report back ref the lettuce!!

Glad to hear Iris is much improved :-) Good news re the Ebay bargains too!!

    love Hoglet x

Morning all..its a bit wet here..and chilly but not too bad..

Have you all seen the that huge storm from the Atlantic thats heading our way..batten down the hatches girls and hold on to your hats..

Hoglet..o that sounds so peaceful..you have given me an idea for my room now..i like it..sorry going to pinch it ..

Well today its a slow day..Iris has been sick again in the night..i rang the out of hours and got her in early..she has a virus(really i never guessed)..but her chest is clear and her temperature has gone down..its just a waiting game now..she does look very pale..and tired.

Fern has gone shopping with her grandad..he is taking her for something to eat..and a look around..he will take Iris when she is better..

The new chenile curtains arrived yesterday and are now up..looking good..hopefully it will keep the cold out more.

So today i am just going to catch up on housework and some sewing that needs doing. Iris is on sofa watching a film..

    love to you all
