just quoting it all for you
a battle of wits is fine with an armed opponent
You seem ignorant (of the meaning of "deviant").
Why bring this into the exchanges (if not to cause trouble)?
(Though I see from your postie avatar you ain't too happy a bunny!!)0 -

I didn't use the word deviant
As you can see I quoted and supplied you with a breadown on the word deviate
however all you are doing here is deviating yet again
I think its time for you to take your Ovaltine virgin0 -
If I re-use the spray bottles that my household cleaner comes in with my own 'home-brew' version, does that mean I am defrauding Proctor and Gamble out of potential revenue?
The weight of a first class letter in terms of routing and handling is insignificant if a recycled stamp is used, remember the truck, Van, Train, Aeroplane and postman are going there anyway so lets say 1 in 100 stamps were re-used then for every 100 letters handled do you think this will harm an organisation as large as the Royal Mail?
Don't think it will.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

how do you go about that? delivery is the costliest part of the mail handling process
are they going to every door, every day?
RMs USO limits one delivery point to 15 minutes. on a rural route that means it can take up to 15 minutes to deliver one item.
As for the truck going there anyway. what do you think happens when they can't fit everything on one truck. they put on another,or a 2nd run
your 1 in 100 letters would be around 80,000 items a day
a loss of around £40000 a day without counting increased handling costs,or £1.2 million a year
however yet again we have the usual justification for simply not paying for what you are using
As for your P&G analogy
how much does it cost P&G to supply you with the use of the container they supplied the product in?0 -
1 - These whooping big gold stamps, have the date, and the issueing post office branch code printed on them. So if you took it into your local PO they would know that the stamp hadn't been issued there.
2 - When these stamps are printed, PO staff should not allow you to take them away for future posting as stated above they are date stamped.
As for putting a recorded delivery sticker on and posting it, if it went missing you would have no proof that you sent the package, as recorded delivery labels are scanned into the RM system and the package weight, price and time all stored on their system. Recorded Delivery receipts and proof of posting receipts contain different information on them.0 -

Not at all, the bottles become your property when you buy them. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

yup,yours to keep
it does not then become a freepost licence
OK, I fully understand the semantics of this debate, however lets use another analogy;
I buy an all day bus pass and only use it for a few trips around town, then I give to somebody else to use, same thing no?
How about the parking ticket; I give somebody else a valid parking ticket to use, only one service paid for yet two people have used it.
It is a luck of the draw scenario, most letters are sent by business post, never seen a stamp in years so for the odd few that get through the net its fair game in my opinion.
I do understand your point Custardy and appreciate that you worked as a postman, just putting my spin on things that's all.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? nope the ticket covers travel for the full day
the ticket covers parking from a set period in a set area
the stamp price covers one journey from point of sending to destination
I worked as a full time ebayer before RM,not once did the thought even pass my mind not to pay for postage.0
