Cash Machine Charges

Now there is something I am very unhappy about and find that it has
not been dealt with yet. NAMELY - CASH MACHINE CHARGES.
My son has managed to rack up, almost unknowingly, charges of £22.75 in
the last two months. He is in officer training with the RAF and they
get moved all over the place for their training exercises. He needs
access to small amounts of money frequently from a variety of locations
and there is no way to find where the free machines are, so he has been forced to pay their HUGE charges relative to the amounts being withdrawn.
Please we need a map and HAVE a search
facility that people can access. Like the cheapest petrol prices at Petrolprices.com

I live near an RAF camp.
The one nearby lets them cash cheques at the officers mess through what I think is called a Public sub account.
(Anyone giving a duff cheque gets automatic disciplinary against them so make sure that he has funds in his account to cover them!)0 -
find the nearest bank and draw cash from thereNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

The charging machines around here all have messages on the front saying they will charge. Almost all machines at banks, building societies and supermarkets are free, almost all machines in pubs and small shops will charge.
Alternatively, depending upon who he banks with, he could draw cash at Post Offices.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
We are short of free cash machines round here, so I use "cashback" a lot.
Not ideal, but I've got no intention of paying to access my own money.
I think it's about time the banks were forced to get together and between them, provide a free machine to all outlying and rural areas.
I bank with NatWest and can't get money via the Post Office, and our nearest bank branch is 8 miles away.

I'm based at the same Unit as your son and the nearest cash machine is in the Spar shop and it charges £1.50 per transaction. Your son has 2 x options to stop racking up these charges:
1. In the same shop they offer cash back over a £5 spend.
2. If he goes to the Holdingham roundabout (with McDonalds on it) head into Sleaford and on the right is a garage with a Co-Op. There is a cash machine outside that is free to use. It is approx 2 miles from camp.
There is no reason to rack up these charges.0 -
(the Spar I work in min spend is 50p)"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

The cash machine is inside the co-op so you can only use it when the store is open, alternatively there is a free 24/7 machine at the Texaco petrol station about 200yds from Mc Donald's
, or outside Tesco's

Couple of points:
1. The cash machine is not in the co-op, it's outside on the garage wall. It's an Abbey National one.
2. The Texaco garage charges for withdrawls.
3. Yes you could use Tescos but it means going into town and possibly getting stuck in traffic. RAF Officer trainees have little time off so they don't want to spend it stuck in queues at Tescos.
I know because i'm based at Cranwell and have been since May 2003 (and if you don't believe me then i'm going to go and take pictures!!!!)
A little wager perhaps?0 -
